He was excellent in the win at Salford. I don't think he started a game after that.
Very unlucky not to feature more.

 

He needs to flesh out a bit more as Watt has done. I like the lad and he has got a lot of “promise” for sure.

He started at home to Mansfield, and even though we screwed up at the end (again), he was part of one of our best performances of the season.

Parkers T&A feed also mentions the Crewe lad as a “ possibility “ .Shame about Young but after the first few games I sussed he was lightweight and wasn’t in the mould of player MH wanted . Good luck to him but the Barrow loan did confirm what we suspected.

 

I personally thought there was a player in Jake Young. It seems shame to give up on him so early after we backed him with a 3 year deal. His spell at Barrow was a disaster so maybe that's helped the swift decision - plus a few rumours of a bad attitude.

Interesting to see Simon Parker name drop Daniel Agyei in his piece. First time he has mentioned him and he doesnt usually put his name to players unless there is a good chance of the player coming in.

 

Hope you're right Kev but at 24 he's had less than 30 senior appearances. That's not great if we're honest and time is against him if he doesn't make his mark at FL level this season.

 

Yes, a decent age with a bit of time on his side but not a 'youngster'. I wouldn't lose sleep if he left put it that way.

 

I like East and I definitely do not think he has been given the time or the opportunity to develop. I think it is a shame as I see potential in him and have enjoyed his contribution to the team when he has been given time on the pitch. If he decides to move on I will be sorry, but understand from his perspective.

 

Then he had to get game time Kev, for his sake more than anything. No point spending another season warming the bench, showing potential when called upon but not getting played.

 

The three year contracts given to Young, Odusina and Oliver demonstrate considerable incompetence. Has we ever seen them play?

 

Problem is Northern, neither are bad enough to be back up. It might mean one has to leave but I'm with you if there had to be a choice it would be East.

He want game time for sure.If that means a loan for say 6 months, then fine.

 

I don't think any of us fans were complaining at the time. Young and Odusina came with high praise from rival fans. Oliver had just come off the back of a fairly decent L1 season.

Anyway - Odusina and Oliver may well be with us this coming season.

Don't see it with East.

He's a tidy footballer for sure, but he's 25 in 2 months time and he has 24 league games to his name.

Nor do I think Young is a loss. Admittedly scored a couple of decent goals but some of his performances last year were truly appalling. Couldn't cross for toffee, didn't track men/back as a wide player. And did absolutely zilch at Barrow.

 

Parker said he didn't think anything would be announced until next week. Reading between the lines it looks like we pretty much have one over the line but maybe waiting on medical to be completed or the media to be done.

 

Personally prefer to see a more direct and dynamic player than someone who is 'tidy'. Especially at L2 level and when our MF seriously lacks goals and assists. 6 foot passes to the right and left don't interest me at all.

 

Young reminds me of Patrick when we had him at league 1 level, can pop up with a great goal now and again then goes missing for 5 games. Patrick did the right thing going down a level and has now had some success, maybe Young could drop down to NL and do similar but it won’t be happening at this level next season. No doubt if he did well at NL some would use it as a stick to beat the club like with Crankshaw, who was quickly dispatched by Stockport when they got to the level we sold him at.

Best of luck to Young, but ultimately it’s been a failed signing.
