Often though players lack Nouse and need pace to rescue situations. Balance is needed and we seem very one paced at the back. Especially retrieving the ball when we inevitably give it away in our own area

 

I wouldn't be entirely stunned if Hughes wasn't here come January. Or maybe February.

It does take time to mould your own squad. We need continuity of manager, not more chopping and changing. Crewe punched way above their weight for years when Gradi was in charge. Wenger at Arsenal, Ferguson at Man U. I am sure I could go on. Yes failing to get promoted last year was a massive let down but why on earth are we talking failure before a ball has even been kicked. Let's get behind the mighty Bantams for this season and help finally get us out this Khazi league

 

Absolutely, but no one is suggesting that all 3 defenders need every attribute and it's just daft to think that they have.

What I'm suggesting, with 3 at the back, is that we should potentially be trying to find a good balance of all the assets we'd need and a mixture of everything you suggested.

 

Taylor - strength
Stubbs - reads
Odusina - pace

Pretty good mix. Clean slate for me with Odusina. Plays best in a 3 according to Hartlepool fans.

 

I will be surprised if Odusina gets a game

 

I agree with you about Odusina but there's no way Taylor and Stubbs can play together in a three as it would be suicidal to play either as an outside CB with their lack of pace or mobility.

 

It smells of trimming the fat to me, as opposed to cost cutting.

I doubt this current squad is cheaper than last season's.

The only players that have left were low level squad players. Those coming in are better.

Bobby Moore never had pace

 

He’s been our best central defender in both friendlies, by some distance, I’d say

 

"Too slow, not tall enough, doesn't look strong enough, he's no Noel Cantwell" My Grandfather circa 1960.
