Summer 2023 Transfer Rumours

Agree, not sure many were creaming themselves as suggested but I do believe the majority on here were happy with Dion returning on loan at the time, but highdsite is a wonderful thing.

 

Dion's got problems, and showed that in previous loan moves - including the start of his (eventually) productive spell here.

I suspect if he starts to drop down the divisions he simply loses interest, but I hope I'm wrong.

 

I have just heard from my contact at Stockport , that they have made a move for Scott Banks

 

Well if it is Dion let's say I wont be as enthusiastic as I would be for Banks or Wright returning.

 

If Rupp had serious ambition to get us out of this league, he should give the green light to Sparks and MH to compete with Stockport for his signature if Palace are willing to let him go and he is willing to drop down permanently

 

The more and more this window goes on, the more and more the whole "versatile players for different tactics" thing is looking like a red herring, and we are actually putting all our chips in on this 352/532 setup, until January at least.

I don't see us bringing in any wingers this window, unless it's another cheap Costelloe/Nevers type who wont even make the bench, but is there in case we need to change tactic. Banks was looking like a very successful find, to not even have a link to his next move just tells me the club don't have an instruction to bring in width this summer.

 

We have options of wingers on the left in Chapman and Oduor . I still think Banks is/was a loan target. It might be a better option for his parent club with a decent loan fee.

 

I don’t see why Banks couldn’t be more versatile than some on here give him credit for, we could easily play a 343 with him one side of Cook. He has the technical ability to play as an advanced midfielder/number 10 in a 352 as well imo. There’s more to his game than a RW in a 4231. For me it would be an excellent signing for anyone at this level, and he could develop and make someone a tidy profit in a couple of years time. It’s better than hoping to strike lucky paying nominal fees on players out of favour at their clubs.

 

Fully agree. Worth nothing Banks has been featuring as a wing back this summer so far.

I don't see him filling the 10 role if I'm honest, but there is a talent there who could be worth a lot of money and can play anywhere wide, could probably do a job as a quicker forward to help the target forward too. I just don't see a change in our summer recruitment or tactic so far.

I think our recruitment this summer is questionable tbh, and at present I think we'll drop from where we were last season.

I agree...........if MH wants him. I can't see why he wouldn't but you never know.

 

If we were to spend money on a winger I would have liked to have made a bid for Ben Whitfield someone who can cross a ball for Cook and others

This has been doing the rounds for days and days and he was even transferred yesterday according to someone’s mate. It’s no big deal. If he goes elsewhere , he goes elsewhere. Would I welcome him, of course , but without exactly seeing where he would fit ?

 

Please no Dave, we want and need better, because he did zero, on his return. Hughes thought so too.
