400k isn't gonna go far? The club basically funds itself, 400k pays the wages of two quality players at league 2 level for a season. Plus the things like add ons. Not to say Lewis isn't a good keeper cos he is, but ultimately that sort of money to a league 2 club is just too great to turn down.

 

Funnily enough, Salford just rebuffed Barnsley for around £400,000 for Luke Bolton.

He only has 1 year left on his contract there.

Like you said, we could certainly invest that money pretty effectively, but we're hardly strapped.

 

It looks like they are just testing the water. If their keeper goes they may put a bid in. But we have him under contract and are in the driving seat. I trust the present set up to get a deal that suits the club. But I doubt we will reach that position

 

They relied on Harry Isted for the second half of last season, Park, who was a loan keeper now gone to Charlton.

They still have Bradley Collins, who happens to be Southampton-born, but Coventry appear to be in for him (to compete with Ben Wilson, of all people).

I think either way they'll want a keeper, and probably one that's better than Collins, but they couldn't stop Isted going to a League One rival... too much turmoil for Isted, apparently.

 

The big danger in regards losing him is it may ignite interest from other clubs looking for a keeper

 

Difference between being flush and being self sustainable. Salford aren't self sustainable which denotes a wealthy backer/s. We know we have an owner with money invested in the purchase but that's where it stops.

Key part of this is getting 2 quality players to come to league 2 level, reason there is interest in Harry is he's good for our current standard and it will be the same with other players of similar attributes

 

We've done it with a few to be fair. Walker, Smallwood, Chapman, Smith, and MacDonald, all come with a higher pedigree and I suspect wages that will mirror that.

InsiderbantamHQ has been tweeting again. Says their source got Smith and Gordon mixed up with them being brothers. Won't be deleting the tweet because they admit they are going to get some right and some wrong. Says things have got harder because the club are aware of the account now. Also continues to insist Platt is leaving but says Lewis isn't.
