Honestly shocked Sutton is still here. For grit and determination excellent but for footballing ability utter shite.

Hughes brought on the wrong player. Honestly, I would have subbed subbed Sutton. The game wasn’t suiting him at all.

No way going that far, other than the position he was asked to play didn’t suit him, nor his capabilities, nor team requirements imho.

I was willing him to push it past that last man and get to the line but nearly everytime he stopped and played it back. I wondered if that was team instructions because it seems against his instinct. That said, the one time he did go past the last man we had one player in the box and about 5 defenders

The only explanation I can suggest is that Chapman doesn’t have 84 minutes in his legs yet? Remember he lost part of preseason.

I don’t readily recognise Sutton as a “byline ball crosser” , sorry. I can think of a time where he’s actually crossed a ball into the box . Clearly he has, but I can’t recall one. Seriously look at Osadebe, he’s all over the place, left , right , can beat a man with trickery and pace. He has the “ tricks” up his sleeve whereas Sutton just has pace running in a straight line. They are not in any way comparable players. Horses for courses is MR Sutton.

Osadebe I believe, will be a big loss to MH’s plans.

There was no problem getting crosses in unfortunately there was no one on the end of them.Fact was we were playing in front of Donny's defence and wasting all those lofted efforts. It was crying out for on the floor interchange passing to cut through the numbers, but we lacked that quality.

errr - how about for Harrats goal against York? Pretty sure that was a cross, or a pass into the box. Agree they are totally different players but Sutton has shown many time he has the beating of a defender by knocking it past and beating him for pace. I don't know why he didn't do it against Donny. I was really disappointed with him in that respect

This is what I said after 7 minutes of the match. Unfortunately I was right but I wish I would have been wrong...

Come on try man - it's not that long ago. You seem to have no trouble remembering every cross Hendrie made that didn't result in a goal :grinning:

Sutton wasn't himself on Saturday. No energy or pace and everything he did looked really laboured. Hopefully just a one off.

Yes I agree, although he did make several runs behind the defence but only once did our other midfielders spot it and try to hit the pass. I wondered if he was under instruction to play safe and hold position.

My take as well BB, just took me a little longer to realise that to unlock the defence we either needed to get to the byline and pull crosses for strikers to attack or have a technically gifted 'no 10' to thread the eye of the needle. Worryingly after Osadebe picked up his injury we didn't seem to have either.

A good club Plymouth with very decent owners who have pumped money into the club and millions into the stadium recently. Home Park is a lovely little stadium now.
The investment package actually seems very generous seeing that the new investirs are only getting 20%.

Alan Nixon claiming we've made an inquiry for Scott Banks from Crystal Palace on loan for the season, a player Adams was looking at last year. Hartlepool also interested.
