I think we will see some more outgoings.

I think Dion is a similar player to Sutton. Doesn’t add something that different to the team. Mazy runs often ending up running into three defenders and losing possession. Both him and Levi can do that.

He's technically much better than Sutton. Dion will start regularly if he comes back.

I think they are very different players, but I do see what you mean in that the end result is often the same! I think Dion has amazing balance and skill levels, he just glides past the opposition. I think Sutton uses his unexpected sudden acceleration to beat his man. If it had to be one or the other I'd have Sutton because he is more flexible, seems a good character....and he's ours.

A Twitter post links Cook with Tranmere

I like Sutton and his lung bursting runs and his wholehearted performances. But I think Dion is on a different level and unfortunately I wouldn’t be surprised if he stays with Luton and gets starts in the championship

I know it was in the National League but his goal return whilst at Tranmere previously was outstanding 85 apprerances 49 goals.

Good I may be by myself with regards Cook but with these new players that Mark Hughes has added to the squad I believe he'll score on a regular basis and not a bad option from the bench if he doesn't make the starting 11.

I must have watched a different Dion to you then as I don't think he is anything like Sutton in style at all.

If Tranmere offered silly money for Cook.? Difficult question I admit!

    I agree @Bronco@Bronco
It would be criminal to let him go to another team in this division.
Cook is a proven goal scorer at this level. He just needs the right service.
Last season he played too many times (under Adams) as the loan striker trying to hold the play and bring others in. And often his hold up play came to nothing due to the lack of support he got.
Acting as a holding player doesn't really play to his strengths.
Cook needs to be on the end of the ball. Not providing that ball.
Saturday's goal shows that if you get him in the box he'll get you goals.

I agree, we need strength in depth and the last time Cook had any serious competition for that No 9 spot he was undroppable. If Oliver is expecting to be top of the pecking order then he's going to have to earn it.

The other way to look at MH's comments today is that if Cook moves on he will be replaced. Quite clear he wants quality competition in the team for key roles up top to enable successful rotation.

Far from me to critise Mark Hughes but we know Cook can score in a poor side, having better players around him would suggest that will give him more opertunities to score goals if Hughes allows him to go as we know from the past, an example Aaron McLean there are no guarentees in football, but as I say I'm more than happy with Mark Hughes approach and the time hes been at our club so far.

If MH wants a high press, can Cook do that?
    I don't think he can.

To find a decent replacement for Cook is not an easy task , just look how many league 2 sides are trying to sign a striker and are failing. To replace Cooks goals would mean we will have to spend a decent amount of money as most decent free transfers have signed up to some club.

Cook looks a lot leaner and fitter during preseason and I doubt Hughes will let him pile it on like he did towards the end of last season.
