I'm not convinced on Angol as the spearhead to a promotion push. His injuries are not just going to go away and his goalscoring is bang average at 27 years old. He really does not lead the line and is better as inverted forward playing off, a lead man.

Callum Cooke signed for Hartlepool on a 2 year deal.

 

Agree with all that you say apart from that bit. Angols and the teams best performances last season came in the last few games when he was leading the line under Hughes and had Walker, Vernam and Pereira behind him.

I've said my points on Angol. Here's a guy with nearly as many bookings as goals in the league. Mansfield, 9 in 29 (Danny Rose got 14 and he's regressed) , Orient 4 in 26 (Josn Wright got 8 that season).

As for performance, the 3 end of season games were excellent vs a good Sutton team, workmanlike against an average Carlisle team and poor against an abject Scunthorpe team.
Compare that to Oldham, Stevenage and Mansfield. I'd suggest our "best 3" performances of the season. Teams of similar ilk to those aforementioned???

I don’t think we’ll need to rely on Angol. Harratt will soon be our main striker.

 

Been saying that for a while now. Think he surprises a few.

 

He has a bit of swagger about him and he showed at a successful Port Vale team he’s got ability. I think with us recruiting so many younger players there will be a great spirit in this team. We’ll be more energetic, quicker, and i see him spearheading it.

My mate works for one of the main sponsors and there is definitely something signing wise happening shortly. How big I don’t know. My understanding is 48 hours

 

Don’t write off Jake Young at 20 already shown a lot of promise hopefully he will pop a few away as well

 

I’m not sure it should even be a surprise if he’s first choice, Vale wanted him in League 1 but couldn’t guarantee him starting. I think Huddersfield would be very unhappy if he wasn’t starting games.

Glad he's found a club (nearer home as well) I would have liked to see how he would have gone on with the sort of signings Hughes has brought in but I accept the managers decision.

 

only team that bothers me is possibly Stockport .......... if the league is anything like last season then honestly I think we will piss it ......... I saw FGR on two occasions and on either occasion they didn’t impress me ............ 3 teams I thought looked ok. Vale, Exeter and Mansfield two of them 3 have gone up ........... Mansfield could be outsiders for promotion if they have got over there beating in the final .........thought they looked nailed on for the automatics after they beat us but then again it was the first game under Hughes so that may have been misleading ............ I’m going for us, Stockport and Mansfield for the automatics
