As we should, last time we had Wells, Meredith and probably Davies injuries aside who could make that step up.

When he said it I don’t think it’ll be an entire 11 or squad there has to be some horses for corses to it as well. Jones and Doyle weren’t good enough for the championship but were vital to get us to league 1 which is the first step.

I imagine he’ll bring a few experienced heads with him from Morecambe who hopefully can have a similar influence to Jones, with those who we hope to progress through the leagues with us will most likely be early to mid twenties to develop and improve here.

The squad has to develop season on season without needing a overhaul, but to improve even the best need to make new signings every year or risk standing still.

While that statement is true, we're not likely to sign a Championship ready side this Summer, so let's not fixate on that

 

Agreed if we’re lucky one or two will be able to make the step up within a few years, the main aim is to have 6 or 7 ready for league 1 in 12 months then improve the squad from there.

 

That goes with the territory. If we want players on two year contracts they need to be L1 quality players. Anything different means we are settling for players that will get us out of L2 and then struggle !
