Summer 2021 Transfers

Sorry, good spot!

 

We got rid of NKP because he wasn’t good enough for us and moved on for the benefit of both parties. Had we spent the transfer wisely last summer , we’d have been out of this league by now and NKP wouldn’t have been given a thought. There’s not a cat in hells chance we’d think he’s just what we need. That’s probably his 1 in 4 good seasons he’s having right now.

 

Barely class it as a good season, just coming good at the end. He's only started 29 league games this season so barely a first name on the team sheet type when he's only started 29 of 46 and it doesn't look like he's had an injury all season. Came back in the side April 10th after only playing 75 minutes in the previous 9 games.

 

That’s a bit objective for here m9, you’ve used facts and everything, he’s the second coming of Bobby Moore according to some.

 

Alan Nixon says there are “loads of clubs” after Stockton so probably rules us out

 

Maybe the pulling power of Adams will swing it for us, he seems to have had his best season of his career under him

 

I mean I'm not fussed on Stockton, personally I'd prefer better. But why would that rule us out? If we want good players, we've got to be prepared to fight with other clubs for them. If we're the only club in for a player it probably tells you something.

 

Difficult when we are competing with teams from above like Bolton and Ipswich

 

I think both teams will be looking at better than him.

 

Wasn't suggesting for a minute that NKP should cone back - just pointing out that many on here thought he was too old and too slow 2 years ago, but are now recommending a 35 year old as an appropriate target for midfield. Fairly obvious that the player in question has hopped across the Orwell for a winding down year with an unambitious L2 club, unlikely to be up for the challenge of commanding midfield in a promotion push. That's all I meant to imply.

I'd suggest a manager who has promotions on his CV knows the type of players he needs to be successful and if thats a 34 year old in midfield so be it.

 

Managers still actually know more than we do as supporters. Many on here won't agree but its true !

 

Cole Stockton doesn't exactly fill me with excitement, a striker who has scored 50 goals in 236 games. We might as well try sign Andy Cook who did well for us even though he played off scraps.

 

And with his scoring rate, I'd be more than happy if one of those took him. Give me a fit Novak everyday of the week

And shares a birthday with Stuart McCall who was just about to turn 34 when we re-signed him back in 1998 !! Omens.
