Players who turn out to be poor are rated by managers all the time.

It doesn't automatically mean they are right and supporters are wrong regardless of qualifications or experience.

I can't count the number of times City fans have hated a player and sworn to high heaven he's utterly useless, only for that person to then perform well elsewhere (often at the same level).

 

It depends all on your opinion of "performed well".

It also doesn't automatically follow that they'd have performed the same had they stayed or even if they'll perform at that level the next year.

There's so many variables it's a complete waste of time debating it.

Pretty much the exact type of player we need - no doubt Skuse wouldn't have moved so far North, but with nearly 600 appearances for just two good clubs, he looks ideal on paper. 6'1, defensive midfielder.

well no, we got rid of NKP because the informationistas on here decided he wasn't very good. now playing regularly for a side that looks nailed on for promotion. and he's a mere 34. Jones was a one off.

I'd say the two most successful sides we've had in my entire life were built around midfielders who were 34 and 35 - not a one off, for sure. Experience in the middle of the park can't be overlooked.

Funny you mention Morecambe - how old is their 6'2 defensive midfielder Toumani Diagouraga? 34 next month.
