We really shouldn't underestimate the energy that Sutton brings to that midfield.

Ok he has some qualities that aren't so great but when I reflect on my time playing various amateur sports it was always great to have someone in the team with a lot of energy to kind of pull the rest of the squad along. Was really helpful in tough periods.

 

Watt will leave on a free at the end of the summer unless we get promoted. I can’t see Championship teams being interested personally as I don’t think he’s good enough.

 

People forget that Watt is still young for a footballer. I think he is one of only a few in recent years capable of playing higher in the coming years

 

Out of yesterdays side only him and FCD have not played at a higher level.

 

Why in a free if we offer him a contract we should get a fee due to his age.

 

I agree Watt is seriously underrated by some on here, there again some said Connor Wood was better than Meredith and Reeves better than Cullen so it’s important to take comments with a pinch of salt.

If Watt goes we need a decent fee plus sell on then we need to invest it in a few quality players who can walk into the first team. We need to give Adams what he wants, he’s the first appointment we’ve got right in years to not back him would be suicidal by the club. Even if it means going over budget, it’ll be cheaper in the long run than staying in this league as our fan base will dwindle and we’ll lose more and more fans.

 

I like Watt and think he's a good footballer. His statistics from last season in a dreadful side back it up too. Some may laugh but I think he's more suited to a higher level than this where you have a proper footballing match up in midfield rather than a scrap like there is most weeks at this level.

However if 300k allowed us to go out and sign 3 top level players for this level (including Watts replacement) then I think that may be the more sensible option.

 

I think I agree with you. At a higher level where the footy is more structured and players seem to have a bit more space, I think he'd do OK.

We'd be lucky if it bought us 2 and that'd only be if they were on a free.

Unless they’re playing for free £300k isn’t getting you three players, it’s Bahamboula and a loanee from the PL.

 

I'd take Bahamboula and Lukaku for 300k.

 

I was more talking about that figure being used on wages. I don't see us paying any transfer fees even if we had the money.
