Superb player but I'm not sure he was the world's best at any point.

Can't decide if we're short on defenders or we just went cheap and the back up we've got isn't very good

Bit worried if Paudie is out long term wouldn't mind seeing a defender come in

 

We 100% need a striker in before the window shuts, maybe even 2 to be honest.

 

He made a FIFA select XI to play in a high profile friendly. They weren't all automatically the best player in that position.

For instance, Taribo West made 3 appearances in 2 different squads and if you look at the selections in willing to bet there's plenty of names you've never even heard of, never mind the "best in the world".

He was brilliant though, no doubt about that.

 

Is this because he know Angol is out for the season and therefore we need to replace him as well as add an option?

Maybe wrong but I do think his injury is serious.

 

Before the Angol injury he was not looking to bring in another striker, he was looking to bring in a midfield player.

By the tone of his post match interview yesterday, his hands are tied about bringing in more than one other player. So it would appear he has had to abandon the idea of bringing in a midfield player as bringing in a striker is now more pressing.

His admission that bringing in Angol was a risk based on his previous injury woes has unfortunately backfired.

 

Maybe he should have loaned out some of the youngsters who on reflection, aren’t going to add much if anything to a side wanting promotion. He’s quoted as saying he wanted to keep everyone but Sikora, Scales et al won’t be seen much this season, so why waste valuable development time by having them on the bench or not even in the match day squad?

We could still pull in a couple of premier/championship youngsters but if finances are an issue, then don’t expect one of the better ones who’ll be earning a decent wage. Their clubs will be looking for a decent contribution from us. Maybe there are still free agents out there hoping for a higher club but realising there just isn’t the interest in them and may decide to take a punt with us and put themselves back in the shop window.

 

The likes of Sikora etc going on loan to NL clubs will happen after the FL transfer window closes and Adams knows what his options are in the squad.

 

Having what is a failry average budget does soewhat reduce Adams ability to bring in players he might have targeted. With Angol looking like being unavailable for a length of time then a striker will definitely be coming in. Could do with another central attacking midfielder to cover for Cooke but as you say looks unlikely.

 

Nixon still insisting that we are in for Bogle and the hold up is due to Doncaster refusing severence pay.

 

By which point his options will be limited to free agents.

 

Think I read he wanted another attacking midfielder in the Cooke type role so (if I didn't make that up!!) he was definitely thinking along the same lines.

 

Adams will know what we need, whether he gets it is another matter. I like his post match reactions, no fannying about, straight to the point.

 

Parker said yesterday there was no truth in it.
