Both he and Colin Hall came the same season, we won our first game at Walsall I believe Hall scored, neither lived up to the hype IMO.
Bradford City finished just two places and one point above the third division relegation zone in 1970/71.

 

My point is it happens at every club over the years, not a selective period like you've challenge me to "prove you otherwise".

 

Over the last 20 I'd definitely say that the odds were in favour of any mentioned player being a complete disappointment.

 

Maybe, think our heads are poisoned with these last 3 years so much that most (not all) players from past eras seem to stick better in the memory..

 

Like Posh and Brentford??? And I dont care about other clubs. I care about this one getting out of L2 and climbing up the leagues.

Shrugging your shoulders and accepting is part of the problem. Mediocrity is deemed acceptable with some Bradford City fans. Bizarre.

Sparks seems to be trying to change that culture. Getting Turnbull in and Adams - who has a great CV will hopefully stop this rot.

 

Colin Hall was terrible,Owen average at best but he went to Chester and had a great spell there.

 

I think that's a tad unfair on David Hopkin. He started slowly, didn't look fit, then began to look like the player we thought we'd signed. Then, just as he was hitting his stride he got a bad injury and was never the same again.

 

wells ,Jones , Darby, Mcardle ,Hansen. We have also had some decent players and looked like we were slowly building something. All ruined by one nutter. I still believe Parky would have got us into the Championship. That would have been the time for Rhodes and Lawn to sell the club, if they could not maintin the club. Probably have got a better price as well.

 

Thought we were talking about Bradford City.

That is always the counter with regards our club being a 3/4 division club over our history, blame it on fans accepting mediocrity, I can assure you I am just as committed as yourself but accept reality.

 

Don Hutchins , David Mcniven , Barry Gallagher. I have fond memories of lots of players, but were they any better than players of today? We are now ,what we were, a fourth division team, with players to suite.

 

That challenge at Darlington was a career ending tackle, not sure he was ever the same player.

 

You mentioned other clubs....you said all clubs.

And the reality is we have brought in shite after shite for the last decade.

Parkinson had a decent core of players. We know who they all are. But how many have we brought in and sold on for a decent profit?

I can only think of Wells and Wyke off the top of my head. Its safe to say our transfer activity will be one of the worst in the FL this last decade.

 

You are probably right. The premier league is just a distant memory. He may well have gone on to be agood player for us.

I think my reply to @andyc supports your comment up to a point, there will always be players we bring into the club who as fans they will make the team tick only to see they are living on their past achievments at other clubs, no better example than Aaron McLean, but as I've posted it's nothing new.

 

Nothing new but needs to change....

 

Hopefully Paudie and the rest of the CBs will benefit from a more structured, well balanced team both defensively and offensively to take pressure of the defense. Hopefully we’ll have CDMs capable of protecting the back four as well, it’s rare in modern day football for defenders to be left so exposed 1 v 1 as we have the last few years.

If NKP and Mellor(more than once) can get promoted from this level, then I don’t see why Paudie can’t with the right set up.

Everyone gets a fresh start for me this season, I’m hoping a fitter more coached team with a few quality additions will improve those that were here from previous seasons.

 

If we bring in Ridhalge to replace Wood I don’t think it will improve us probably just keeps the status quo I don’t think he is any better

 

I believe under our new CEO that will be the case, his off field signing have brought a different ethos to the club, specialised people for designated areas.
