Canavan is promotion quality, I'm not looking for perfect players, I know that he's pretty slow but he's a unit and while the defence struggled towards the end of the season, we saw him come in and improve the defence right away.

Paudie I believe has a ton of potential, we've seen glimpses of it, he's a blood and thunder player who puts it all on the line but has shown mental lapses and temperament issues - again, not looking for perfect players, you don't find them at League Two, but this is a division where NKP and Kelvin Mellor are good enough for promotion and in my mind Paudie and Canavan are better than those.

If Adams can organise this side properly and we cut out the incessant failure to win headers from deep crosses, which seemed to be every other goal, then I think our defence will be solid.

Or at least, has the potential to be rock solid.

I just don't think there will be a better pairing, though a few teams will have something equivalent in terms of ability I'm sure.

Yeah I can't argue with the reasoning, it's just personal preference.

Looking at some of the players released North of the border, I wouldn't mind a couple of names:

Gary Dicker, club captain of Kilmarnock, remember him? Now 34, but I do like the idea of a very experienced midfielder...

Failing that, Aaron Tshibola, who once cost Villa £5m from Reading, is a player getting his career on track - that's a very Derek Adams-type of story, players who need opportunities, and after being released by Kilmarnock the 6'3 midfielder would be interesting.

Also wouldn't mind Jonathan Obika, released by St Mirren, not the highest scoring striker of all time but has always played at a higher level (League One in England, SPL in Scotland) and would be good competition for Cook and a different type of player.

I'm convinced Adams will announce someone from Scotland.

I think they will be a better pairing.

First of of all Morecombe went up via for play offs and we don't want to take that risk. We want AUTOMATIC!!.

Mellor has pace. Yes he's not great but he is quick.

We're not in 1970(I wasn't around then) but in todays game at all levels your CB's need to be good on the ball. Be able to pass well and get the ball from back to front in different ways. Last season Watt was dropping too deep to collect the ball and season before that Reeves was.

You want you centre backs to be able to push forward 10 yards and confident on the ball, to be able to recover.

Canavan is ok..I like. Paudie has been a disappointment. A red card waiting to happen. We need better. If we are serious this coming season.

Agreed. Im not saying bin em, just think we need competition. I dont get the Paudie love in at all. Shows how far we have fallen and how easily pleased some are. Same crowd that said Reece Burke would be a future England captain.....

Loved Burke btw but come on...

It doesn't make people "easily pleased" because they rate someone that you don't...

If we go in with ROD, Canavan and Paudie then for me we are in trouble.

    ROD shocking distribution
Paudie hasn't improve and I could argue he's gone backwards.
Canavan is ok but has an injury in him.

ROD, Paudie and Canavan won't take us up. We need better.

I used to call the club info line from my halls of residence pay phone in the 1980's .... and we need one commanding CB before the season starts ... and perhaps a couple of departures !

We clearly need to sort out other positions but remember we have a loan market and I do believe that players like Watt and maybe Paudrie could be sold.

We can make room for players.

Bradford City fans need to stop thinking like 8 year olds with posters of players on their walls and understand that some of the players we have a not good enough.

    Paudrie isn’t good enough
    ROD isn’t good enough.

My folks didn't have a telly until I was born in 64 and got married in 53

The good full backs getting forward are part of the reason Liverpool are successful despite a pretty defensive midfield. It’s also why England look so bad with Shaw and James at FB. James gets a nosebleed if he goes past the halfway line for England

I'm confident you'll be proved wrong about Paudie

If he wins a couple of headers next term he'll have already vastly improved in my eyes.

I'd love to be proved wrong but I'd be more than happy if he was moved on before the start of the season.

Paudie is 24 in a couple of weeks. At what age do fans stop playing the 'potential card'?

Maybe he has reached his potential as a bang average League two plodder - that's where he is and that is what he has shown.

You would think he is still 19-20 years old the way some talk about him.
