Million percent right.

I keep reading posts on Facebook about which strikeforce we should sign, and if we brought in Cook (which we probably won't), we'd have to bring in a complimentary striker. But that is absolutely incorrect, that's not how 4-2-3-1 works, so if we bring in Wellens or the Morecambe fella or even Kenny Jackett, our fans need to grasp that we aren't signing a two-man strike force akin to Hanson and Wells because we won't be playing two out-and-out centre forwards. We don't need out-and-out wide men like Gilliead, we need attacking winger/forwards, and we need to build around players that suit the formation and tactics like Callum Cooke.

 

Sam lavelle is a top player at morecambe captain 24 yrs old centre back 6 ft 3 already played 130 games at this level, 1 year left on current deal. This is the sort of player we should be going for, not going for big names who achieved something years ago.

If they’re coming in on loan and playing the odd game and coming on as a sub, Stevens, Burrell, Samuels and so on then I agree. If you’re bringing in players who are adding quality to the side, Lewis O’Brien or Jordan Pickford, then it’s correct to bring them in on loan.

 

To be fair, if my son was 20, on 5k or more a week in ManYoo reserves with two years left on his contract faced with a loan move to league two on the same money or a permanent contract on a grand a week, I know what I’d advise him to do.

It’s easy to knock these lads for ‘not making it’, but even though they didn’t hit the PL heights, he’s probably going to make more of a career than the overwhelming majority of kids who are taken on by PL clubs, never mind those lower down the leagues.

And let’s face it, he’s doing something he probably loved doing as a kid for a living, how many of us can truly say we love what we do? That our hobby is our job?

Vernam needs to step up this season and could be a big player for us and could do really well with Adams style of play.

 

When you put everything into perspective we still have plenty to look forward to over the next few weeks.

It will come as no surprise but Scales just been confirmed as having signed for another 2 years.

 

Forget Hornby, I heard we are in for a Haitian international keeper. Looks promising.

 

The club simply said it would be a busy week - made absolutely no promises on anything. They have announced Sikora, Foulds and Scales new deals each day. Its Wednesday, enough time left to announce a signing or two.
