Summer 2021 Transfers

To be fair, if my son was 20, on 5k or more a week in ManYoo reserves with two years left on his contract faced with a loan move to league two on the same money or a permanent contract on a grand a week, I know what I’d advise him to do.

It’s easy to knock these lads for ‘not making it’, but even though they didn’t hit the PL heights, he’s probably going to make more of a career than the overwhelming majority of kids who are taken on by PL clubs, never mind those lower down the leagues.

And let’s face it, he’s doing something he probably loved doing as a kid for a living, how many of us can truly say we love what we do? That our hobby is our job?

Cartwheels? Hardly. Id have been ok with him as a squad player due to his season last season. Much better than a crappy kid on loan like Burrell or the one from Wolves.

Newsflash - we are in L2. All our players are in L2 for a reason. Even Paudie and Cooke who folk still cream over.

Good. Maybe that will mean talk will move on from a player we have never been linked with, who has signed for someone else and who the majority wouldn't have wanted here anyway.

 

I believe folk having an opinion isnt against the T&Cs of this thread.

All the budding football managers on here have had alot to say on previous managers tactics, starting 11s and styles of play so why not transfer targets?

I seem to remember a large number analysing Richie Wellens as a potential candidate as manager - someone else never really on the clubs radar. He was simply available....

 

Adams forte seems to be getting the best out if players that have under performed previously like NKP and Mellor and Stockton who was Morecambe player of the season.
At his previous clubs fans seem to have been “underwhelmed by some signings who turned out well. I am sure the same will happen here when the signings start in fact it has already should we sign Stockton

Where is that Stevenage Striker these days….is he free yet?

 

Andy Cook has a very similar record to James Wilson last season. Wilson was also played out wide rather than in his preferred position and is 5 years younger. I'm not saying Cook wouldn't be a decent signing, he would be. My point is that that 25-30 goals a season strikers are very very hard to find at our level.

 

We keep quoting 25-30 goals a year striker in the same breath as Wilson.
Why……it took him SEVEN YEARS to score that many. If he didn’t make “the appearances “ there is likely a good reason ?

 

I dont think Adams will be looking at a natural finisher type of forward. Looking at his track record in English football, he's only really had the more workhorse type forwards, playing 1 up top. At Plymouth it was a 4231 with his strikers getting around 13/15 mark over the season every season apart from Ladapo, now at Rotherham, he scored 20 in Adams final season.

Like said earlier, Stockton this year scored 13 so again, not exactly tearing up the league. But, at Plymouth he had 3 playing behind him in AM or wing slots and they all got 10-15 goals too. I reckon at Morecambe, well known lowest budget in the EFL, he probably stacked it up with a 4141 to try protect out a 1 goal lead. Might try go back to the 4231 with a budget.

Only 1 player scored over 20 in L2 last season, 25-30 is simply unrealistic.

Agree. @Park bantam is scared of him. He has no faith in Bradford City FC but never wants to admit it.

Wilson has signed for another club and isn't that good.

Damn Wilson and Guthrie partnership. Why would anyone think Port Vale will be good next season I never know.

 

technically not yet,contracts expire end of this month. that being said wouldn't surprise me if they are all not at the club if that makes sense.
