Stuart will always remain one of the best ever at City. As a player and as a person. Sadly, it hasn’t worked for him as manager but I don’t think that’s enough to celebrate anything or for some of the, fairly, personal comments. He has given a lot to our club and its supporters on and off the field and nobody on the outside really knows what has been going on over the past year or so. Don’t get me wrong, I think it is the right decision. Something had to give.

I guess there was not much option left, I’m absolutely gutted for Stu that his times of management at City haven’t brought the success he so obviously wanted for the club, the fans and the City. The fact it didn’t work out in no way lessens my view of him, all the best Stu. I certainly take no pleasure from the news, in my opinion we have more fundamental issues that start from the top down. The club’s a mess and you can easily argue the club has been on a downward trajectory since our current owner came in. We were unlucky with the millwall PO final, fine margins, but since that it’s been crap.

Stuart was and always will be a legend at this club. I was fortunate to witness the entirety of both his playing spells for the club and there is no-one I'd have wanted to succeed more as a manager.
He couldn't have tried harder to turn this round (probably to his own personal detriment) but as has become clear, he was onto a loser with this squad of absolute shite and the state of the club as a whole. In addition, we know from his track record that he does not turn around losing streaks. His position had become untenable and as has been mentioned, todays announcement is 100% the right call for both the club AND for Stuarts own wellbeing.
That said, the problems at this club run far deeper than just the manager. The club is rotten throughout and without major change I fear for us.

Good post @Morley Bantam@Morley Bantam I'd suggest anyone who saw him during his time as a player, as yourself I was lucky enough to see both of his spells at the club, a great player, Captain, Legend and Ambassador for the club, although it's been difficult for many to see him struggling we all know deep down it was the best for both parties to cut the umbilical cord and sever his ties with regards the club in a professional capacity.

I'm sure he will be made more than welcome when ever he returns to his club be that as a pundit for Sky or an ordinary fan who loves this football club.

Does anybody really think that PP would want to put himself through the stress of hauling another set of obviously not good enough players out of the relegation from the FL mire?
If anyone can do it I reckon he can. But I actually doubt that he'd touch us with a barge pole in the current circumstances.

If we can keep the scoreline against the Creepies down to losing by a single goal and Scunny thrash Barrow by more than 3 goals, we will go up another place. That could be our strategy for the rest of the season for gradually pulling away from the relegation zone! :)

Sacking someone so soon after a contract extension doesn't show balls to me, it's shows someone cocked up big style with his first big decision.

Stuart will be remembered at this club long after the current crop of nobody’s have gone.
The players should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for the performances they’ve given Stuart.
I personally have no affection for any of them and I sincerely hope not a single one of them is left at our club come the summer. Not a single one of them

What worries me the most, is that despite his terrible record, Stuart was the only connecting force between the club and the fans. We ALL wanted him to succeed. Now the club is disconnected in a way it has never been before. We don’t even have a “favourite” player to attach our hopes on.

Sparks and Rupp have really got to pull out all the stops, or I can see this club sinking without a trace and no one caring.

Just seen the news as been reffing this morning, so disappointed for Stuart but perhaps best for his health and future wellbeing as he bleeds this club and we could hear yesterday how he was feeling it. Interesting SP has indicated the extension was going to be based on results and that SMc might not even demand the finance from the new terms - time will tell.
For now I am just disgusted at the feeble efforts of our so called professional footballers and I hope they are bloody ashamed of themselves this morning - they are not fit to lace the boots of Stuart (the player) and I hope they are told in no uncertain terms by the fans and the new manager (when he is in place). If we never saw some of them again it would not be too soon for me.
Just had a text from a scout I know that he has heard 'in the wires' the club has someone in mind, and hopefully things will be sorted by later next week (wouldnt tell me who before you ask)

There is nobody I would have loved to see succeed as our manager more than Stuart, but equally, he is the last person in the world I would want to see taking us out of the league. As that was starting to look inevitable, the right choice has been made. I hope whoever we bring in has got some balls about them because they are going to need them.

This is the nail on the head. Since McCall has come back what style has become our mantra? He swopped more times than an excited kid playing fifa. The transfer recruitment had no strategy to it, signing players like Gareth Evans but with no real idea what position he now played and how he would fit into any sort of system. The best part of three years we've now done this, having no plan and strategy yet its taken till we are 4 points from the very bottom for it to resonate with some, although unsurprisingly for our fan base a fair few still don't get it and blindly think we're still 'too good' to go down. We're not down there because we're unlucky with injuries or we haven't had the rub of the green, its because we are arguably the worst organised set up in the whole football league. Until that changes it doesn't matter what manager we bring in.

you really think this will make a big difference? Not sure what there is to celebrate, maybe some can view Stuart as just another employee, I dunno, I find reactions like this a bit unnecessary. Let’s wait and see what your new manager does, will it be just another Grayson, Bowyer, Hopkins or that other fella?
