He is very hands off. He is not the type of owner who wants to be in on everything the exact opposite. Will he give Mark what he wants my guess is yes. It looks like he gave it to Adams as well and he squandered it. It is quite obvious that he doesn’t do self reflection or post mortums either. Not working? disappointing but we move on! I am not an advocate of this type of approach as you end up doing an action replay. Even if it is just an hour or two sitting and looking at what went wrong and did we do enough.

Rupp may have his faults but be careful what you wish for, New owners with no money behind them might well be worse, Rupp is right in only considering any bids with genuine money and ambition for the club before selling, We could have a lot worse

He doesn't seem to be desperate to sell, so he is hardly pricing himself out of a sale.

He is entitled to want a certain figure if he was tempted to sell, just like you would be if people enquired about buying your business empire

He's not pricing himself out of something he doesn't want to sell. If someone wants it so bad then they will have to make an offer he can't refuse. He's under no pressure to sell except from us fans, unfortunately there is no buyer us fans crave for.

I think the reality is, we're stuck with Rupp and his lack of appetite or aggression for really attacking the leagues.

Fortunately for us (and him, and Ryan) we've stumbled upon a Premier League quality manager who has gained close to 100% support and united the fanbase for the foreseeable future in a manner that just didn't look possible.

It would be nice if Rupp got a bit wiser to the fact our failures aren't solely down to a string of managers, but it is what it is. We're not going to get anything massively creative out of someone who doesn't understand the game. There won't be any moneyball-type scouting (because as Adams says, what does it matter if you can't afford the players anyway?), we aren't even going to be appointing a Director of Football because as far as Stefan is concerned, Sparks can do that (LOL, that's why we're 14th in L2 when everybody knows we SHOULD have been attacking promotion this year).

But at the end of the day, nothing is going to imminently change, and we've got the best possible chance of success by relying solely on a manager knowing what he's doing.

A shame he didn't use the same logic when he was conned into buying our club by Rahic, we all thought exactly the same Trevor, new owners with the finacial clout to take up that one step further to the Championship.
The sad part about all this is he would possibly get £10M if we were in the Championship, speculate to accumulate Mr Rupp.

Good post Jon it sums the situation up for me, as you say even though we have not won more games under Sparkie there is little doubt he's got us playing the right way.
We know we've got to be self sufficient and that's not a bad thing but as you say we have a manager in Mark Hughes who has been there and done it, both playing and managing at the highest level, thank goodness Ryan read his junk mail, I have no doubt the capture of Hughes will wet the appetite and fans will once again back the club in numbers with regards season tickets.
I do believe Mark has bought into our club and can see the potencial going forward let's hope Stefan can do the same an maybe lossens the purse strings and gets us out of the league.

Rupp was clearly misled when he bought the club. And he probably sees nothing but downside risk given his experience to date. But he has to put emotion an negative sentiment about risk to one side and recognise the gift that's fallen into his lap. One of the most experienced ever PL managers has rocked up against all expectation, with a myriad of contacts that should be of use to us. If the businessman inside him doesn't see the opportunity that exists now for some calculated speculation and what that could do for him in terms of a financial return, he's a fool. He can almost be forgiven for much of what's gone before; but if, from this point, he doesn't embrace the opportunity to positively invest something, he's a moron.

I agree @Faithful Bantam@Faithful Bantam. This is the time, throw this chance away and he can forget about selling the club for profit. Mark Hughes is not draft and I doubt he will be paying over the odds, we need about 6 top of the range for league two/one players then build the team round them.

Maybe the Part 2 Parker exclusive will put some meat onto the bones and shed some insight into what Hughes wants,
    a new fitness guy?
our training pitches up to standard?
who pays the rent next season?
    rupp really backing City

a "competitive budget"- have you all forgotten the playing budget was cut this time,
hence the likes of Kelleher/Robinson/Lavery and a january window full of loanees who all pretty much picked up injuries.
    Unbelievable Jeff.
Threkeld/Ridehalgh contracts not up this summer but does Hughes keep or pay off.
Gillead, he of the i couldn't hit a barn door from five yards out and super striker Cook will still be here along with Songo'o and Eisa(will be like a new signing)

If rupp and sparks really "want to be successful" then we need to see the details this time

Well the second part of the interview was as uninspiring as the first. What a wasted opportunity by Parker to really get into Rupp and find out his long term goals with the club. Asking basic questions like some 6th former writing for the school mag. Rupp still thinks getting it right on the pitch is the way out, which is correct to some degree, but what about the infrastructure? Training facilities, stadium ownership, investment, scouting? There's nothing new in that interview that hasn’t been said by Sparks over the last 15 months. Tempering expectation is one thing, but plodding along is another.

This is his and the clubs golden chance to get going again. Managers like Mark Hughes come along once in a blue moon and I was expecting some kind of rallying call to fans and sponsors alike. A statement of intent not some hands in pocket, shrugging shoulders talk about self sustainability. If this doesn’t work I genuinely fear this club.

Only interested in balancing the books. This club is being run in a way that is attractive to investors and the fans are paying for it with the utter shite on the pitch. I wont be falling for it next season despite Hughes turning up.

As I said yesterday not sure why people were waiting for the second part to make a judgement if it was such a big scoop it would have all been done at once. He did mention his long term plan tbf, same as every year hope the manager and players pay off you can forget about building assets and infrastructure. The comment about his wife making a bad tea was particularly strange and if someone put that on here there’d be people screaming sexist. The only reason people defend him is because they’re scared of the unknown and it could be worse etc…

If Sparky doesn’t save us or we don’t get a buyer then forget about this clubs long standing tradition of being a football league club.

Part 2 of the interview is even worse. Not a single shred of recognition that under his watch, literally only 3 or 4 professional clubs in the country have fared worse. And apparently it would have been even worse if we'd been promoted to the championship!!

Oh, but the ground looks tidier. Forget the fact that its gone from being packed out to half empty at best.

Parker did ask if sustainable meant on the cheap but then sort of left Stefan off. That would have been the time to follow up re infrastructure, scouting, medical etc
