That was too easy for Southend today, the left side of our attack was never going to be a threat, and the left side of defence, and the defence as a whole was too slow. For me, Payne needs to drop deeper at the beginning of our build up play and take the ball of Akpans toes. All we did today was rush a ball forward or try to pass into an area rather than pass to a man. We squandered possession and were bullied off the loose balls by a stronger Southend team, who are unsurprisingly a set of big athletic lads, as they have been for the past few seasons. Elementary Hopkin, must do better!

For me, it is sh+t or bust now. The December 'feel good factor' has gone. Hopefully, the ridiculous complacency that we would easily get out of the mire has gone too. Some talk on here of the play offs a week or so ago. The bottom line is that this team is simply not good enough. So, we have a week or so to bring at least a couple of better players in. If we don't, we are done. I am beginning to think that letting Jim O'B leave was a mistake and am sure that Caddis is actually a full back. I had also begun to have faith in DH, now I am much less sure. His interview on Pulse this evening was not encouraging. 'We go again..........'. By the way, if NKP is a full back, I will be the next Pope.

Let's hope we've not emptied the budget keeping Payne in the squad. We need two or three first teamers for next week, but dropping to 2nd bottom and having two heavy defeats on the trot, has just made that task even harder.

I was laughing out loud when I saw people posting their bets of City to finish top 6.

Thought Dieng had a decent game for them yesterday. Mobile, no stray passes and a decent effort on goal. Certainly better than the players we bought to replace him.

But we didn't "let JOB go". We offered him a deal. He turned it down and signed one elsewhere. We let him leave early and join Notts County as it was the right thing to do as a club for the player.

We've got some relationships to rebuild and need to do what's right to get clubs and agents back onside.

The question is should we have offered him a longer deal. Only time will tell but we do seem to missing that grit in the middle.

The jeering of Doyle yesterday was ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as a game plan of launching everything long and high to a striker that’s never been about winning aerial duels.

Why the hell we stopped what worked so well in December I’ve no idea. But that madness needs to stop, now.

Just reading about the lad Humphrys for Southend. They've signed him on a permanent deal from Fulham. He's exactly the type of forward we need and I'd be surprised and disappointed if we didn't enquire.

"Humphreys, who came through the youth ranks at Fulham, has spent time out on loan with Shrewsbury Town, Rochdale and Scunthorpe United."

Looks like he wasn't averse to playing in the north.

He’s barely featured as he was always injured. We need a body in there as we are very light but JOB did a job for us but with our limited budget we were carrying him anyway due to his injuries

He's just signed a 2 half year deal with us so I doubt he's available at all.

I think that the Inspector meant that he was surprised that we didn't enquire when he was available at Fulham, SB!!

Ah right got you. If I'm honest I'd never heard of the lad, but based on that performance he seems to be a good find.

After Accrington it was won four out of five, scored 14 and one against. Someone then decided to flick the switch, the reward for all the teams efforts was to bring a new kid in at centre back and put him straight in moving others around disrupting the proven tactics. I bet that went down well with the lads as the last two games show's, never change a winning team, never change winning tactics, never upset a happy team which was enjoying themselves.

Yes he looked a very good player yesterday, but don't be too hasty. He was up against a shocking defence and non existent midfield
