My point about Cadiss was him being played out of position in previous formations, he is a RB full stop.
Agreed on O'Donnell, he has that shot-stopper talent, I like him.
NKP surely cant be the best solution for LB? Anytime Iv'e seen him there he looks tentative. Cant blame him when he's put there though so not knocking him.

Just a poor result and poor performance makes me look at what was wrong today.

 

Thanks for bringing up the expensive players who train on their own and won’t be allowed near the bench. Currently at least 9 nine and possibly 10 players know they will start if available.

 

If you think NKP played OK you need to stop going to football not one of his headers or passes went to a player in claret and amber what a sack of shit to me the nly player who had anything about them was caddis.

NKP did OK. Have you forgot that interception in our box to stop their player having a tap in? Or the other tackles he got in.
I notice that all the goals scored by Southend were not from a direct threat from the LB area.

 

I agree I thought NKP offered little playing LB if he made one overlap and cross in the whole game I must have missed it, we were void of any threat down the left, let's just hope it's just a bad day at the office, but then again that's what most said last week at Barnsley "are but there a good team" they didn't look anything special for the first 27 minutes until they scored then they did look a very good side and we could have been beaten more heavily, as today.

 

NKP isnt ever going to be an attacking force from LB, it's not his game. CB from a set piece is more in his line.

I honestly thought after the hour mark we'd concede more, it was a hard listen and prob as poor as we've been even pre/post Rahic.

 

Obviously Southend don't perform like that week in week out or they be in the top 6, but we didn't help ourselves, I just couldn't understand why Hopkin didn't change it at half time, that's the second week on the trot we should have made changes earlier/half time, last week being more obvious he persisted with playing Cadiss further up the pitch rather than the position he had done so well in which also allowed him to get further up the pitch.

 

Hopkin did change it at half time at Barnsley and put Caddis at RB.

No he didn't. He changed from a back 5 to a 4 with McGowan RB, Caddis stayed in midfield.

Even at half time the commentary lads, who toe the line and make the best of everything, were saying a change was needed. So it must have been plain for all to see where the issues were. I could not have sat through that first half and been optimistic about the rest of the game.

Mistakes possibly but we were beaten by the much better side on the day.
Southend have a good away record and today you could see why they are physically strong to strong for us and they play on the break really well They also did their homework on us and nullified our three or four decent players. Much as I like him was Ball playing today hardly saw him. And Obrien and Payne were probably as ineffective as they have been.
Other teams will.have learned from Southend so we need to adapt our game for future games

 

Their lad who scored two was making his debut up front. Him and Cox looked like they’d been playing together for years - so much for needing time to gel!

We need to get back to having Payne and Ball playing just off Doyle (or Miller) and keeping the ball on the deck.
