Evans is showing what can be done if you spend your money wisely and stick to the plan. They've moved on from pretty much everyone who got them promoted from L2, theres only a handful still getting gametime, with 19 players brought in either permanently or on loan so far this season and 16 of those were brought in during the summer.

In both cases, proper recruitment is the key.

    'At least we're not Rochdale'.

I jest but it really isn't looking good for them.

This topic has been done to death but its nothing to do with Gordon Gibb, its the pension fund. He can't just decide to sell it if he wants, he has legal obligations.

Do Stevenage have a DOF or will it be the same as it was for Parky at Valley Parade I cant see Steve Evans being happy with someone else saying which players are available who he can sign,I agree all about recruitment I think even though we have Gent, Alexander will have enough knowledge what's required to get us out of this league.

Stevenage have had a DOF for a few years now. Evans is part of a committee with a cheif scout also in play, but Leon Hunter (DOF) signs off on the deals and has done since 2021.

I bet they’d take sustainability model right now.

My only question is which pension fund is it?

A big difference between it being the company pension scheme for Flamingo Land employees or if it is Gordon Gibb's or a family pension fund. Hopefully Bradford City are fully appraised on this.

It makes no difference. Whoever the pension scheme is for, the trustees are legally obliged to make decisions in the pension fund's interest.

It's not exactly proper recruitment with Evans. He loves an ex-player. He likes to have a good number of players who have played for him before and know what to expect.

There's a huge difference between a company pension and a SIPP for example. I don't know whose money was actually used and whether there were even trustees involved. The words 'pension fund' can describe a lot of situations, not all involve trustees or legal fiduciary duties.

It's the Gibb Family Self Administered pension fund. Most of the trustees are Gibb family members, but not all are.

Fair enough, although being a SSAS it is quite unusual for there to be additional trustees. As a SSAS the investment decisions will then basically be down to the Gibb family as members/trustees and they will have more flexibility about decisions regarding the future of VP than if it were a company pension scheme asset.

According to the Land Registry it is PROPRIETOR: GORDON GIBB, MAUREEN GIBB and VICTORIA GIBB of New Garden House, 78 Hatton Garden, London EC1N 8LD and WOLANSKI & CO TRUSTEES LIMITED (Co. Regn No.2178783) of New Garden House, 78 Hatton Garden, London EC1N 8LD.

That's not entirely true. The legal responsibility placed on the trustees is to ensure that the beneficiaries receive what they are entitled to under the Trust Deed, the legal document which governs how the fund is managed. The trustees don't have a broader fiduciary responsibility beyond the trust deed. In an SSAS, there is very little difference between the trustees and the beneficiaries which have a maximum of 11. That means in practice that if the beneficiaries didn't receive what they believed to be their 'pension' entitlements, they'd be challenging themselves or a family member legally as trustees. That is possible of course but rarely happens in normal circumstances. If there are contentious or questionable investment issues for the fund say in relationship to a football stadium they may own, it would surprise me enormously if the trustees acted first without checking out the implications for the other beneficiaries.
