My first home game since a disastrous double-header against Sunderland and Oldham last October. I hope my jinx has gone.

A few beers in Record café pre-match with some old mates.

I am hoping to be a Yorkshire resident soon, after 35 years in Belgium, get value from my season ticket and play Yorkshire golf.

    C'mon City!

What a fecking win that is, absolutely HUGE! Shrews were utter dog shit, it would've been a travesty if we'd have not won that.

And finally some fecking passion, the celebrations after that goal from Akpan and Caddis in particular is what we want to see!

Wood was excellent btw, I don't think he's got enough technically to be a LW but based on tonight and his defensive performance he can make it as a LB.

I thought the whole team put a shift in tonight and if Doyle is your scapegoat so be it but we watched him second half and he was making some good runs to make space but wasn't being passed to.

McBurnie's a better example of a player people were 'meh' about, because his performances actually were 'meh', they just weren't indicative of the level he could play at.

Let's not pretend Pickford put in England-worthy performances for us, though he did look like a Championship quality keeper while at City.

For what it's worth, O'Donnell is the best goalkeeper we've had since Pickford, and prior to that, for many, many years.

Have to disagree NM thought Akpan played pretty well last night - indeed it was a topic of conversation around where we sit - the improvement of his performance compared to the Southend one. Is he a luxury based on his inconsistency - based on his season so far - yes and perhaps a better replacement can be found in the summer but I am quite happy for him to try to persuade us otherwise. One factor is him been available to play rather than been on the injury list.

Guess who come with the worst away form in league 1.

We haven’t had a win like that this season. Really poor officials tonight, but we won despite them. This team has guts they didn’t give up.

Can't remember a finish like that for ages, genuinely thought we'd blown it. Could just be the goal that keeps us up. Crazy scenes after Balls goal, fans bouncing all over the place.

Absolutely outstanding! That was a 'moment', and I'm so glad after the sucker punch that was the equalising penalty that the lads stuck at it and pressed for the winner - we weren't licking our wounds or feeling sorry for ourselves, and in a game where we could have 6 or 7, we've actually smashed home four and all the goals from open play showing some real quality.

Some interesting comments here about individual performances, don't agree with all of them, but who cares?

That was a solid team performance in terms of individual outings, and three goals really flatters Shrewsbury. The free kick maybe O'Donnell misread, but it wasn't a free kick in a million years - the penalty, I thought yes, that's unfortunately the right call - but their forward looked strong, quick and pretty slick with his runs.

Can we PLEASE get Ball on a permanent?! Damn!

That's such a blatant shove on Caddis. Astonishing that the ref didn't penalise it. Great hit though. It don't think O'Donnell could do much about it.
And looking at the penalty - it's really soft. Caddis's left leg is out but it doesn't move. Their guy deliberately runs over it and falls down - he isn't tripped.
I also thought at the time that the free kick given against Akpan, that they scored from, was incredibly harsh. It looked like a fair, ball-winning challenge to me.
We certainly didn't get the rub of the green on any of those calls.

We ain't gonna get better than O'Donnell as we stand as a league one club. Apart from his distribution at times he's a decent keeper, certainly had enough practice this season with the state of our defending.

Ball MOTM for me. Even before the winner he was outstanding. Honourable mentions for LOB, Caddis and Akpan too.

Dishonourable mention for Doyle, who although he scored, was poor.

We deserved that win. Two goals from dead balls for them. Other than that they didn’t show much against us tbh.
Ball, Conner Wood and Akpan for me played great.

But why do we never try to play the ball out from the back?
Caddis, Woods and even O'Connor are all perfectly competent passers. Akpan is an excellent passer. We should be able to move the ball from the back without always hoofing it straight onto the oppo CB's noggin. I don't mind the kick from O'Donnell to the wings sometimes, because that often results in a throw to us high up the pitch. But the repetitive hoof down the middle is just pointless.
It was noticeable on Saturday that we started to control the game from the point that Caddis decided to run with the ball from half way and then lay it off around Burton's box. That kick-started our passing game and we dominated after that.
We have good ball players. Let's use them better by playing our football on the deck.
