But it goes against the main objective of developing our own players Park. If said loanee is keeping our own player out of the team, thus preventing his development, this goes against our goal.

 

You were just moaning that our development squad players shouldnt be in the first team and we are goosed if we have to call of them.

The squad needs competition.

 

How many times has Robinson played 1st team football? I would class him as a regular now not a development squad player.

 

He needs competition to develop as well. End of the day I would rather get promoted.

 

We all want promotion but I wouldn't be banking on one in the next 3-4 years.

 

So would I @Sergio Pinto III, but I'm not sure the owners have promotion a priority over youth development, and thats not having a go at them.

 

I agree its better to bring on our own players but I'm not totally against the odd loan where the quality of the player would be unobtainable to pay in order to buy.

What I don't like is the Huddersfields and Fulhams who bring in a load of loans, get promoted then effectively have to buy last seasons team plus others to make the squad competitive!

 

I have no issue with development, its a nice strategy. I really like Robinson but he needs competition. It is not ideal its a player on loan but if it can free up a few quid to bring in another player then it benefits the team.

 

Think with the way the transfer window as changed from this season majority of teams will have at least 2/3 players in on loan in their squads especially l1 & l2 teams so I doubt seedoorf should we sign him will be the only loanee come august at city.

 

My point was more about promotion than youth development, I've posted before great if we have our own youth coming throught but not if that is going to be detrimental to a promotion push.

 

I would agree with that but I am sure everyone wants both.

We need wingers. So the options are take someone in on loan or pay a fee/ add to wage bill and bring someone in to compete with Robinson. The loan market seems the more sensible solution to me. He would only be here until January if Robinson is keeping him out.

I'm quite happy to forgo instant gratification in deference to a longer term plan if it means we can go up and stay up. I don't need promotion this season to be the be all and end all, nor next season but if we did go up by fluke then great.

I want to see a club that can build solid footings to become an established championship team rather than one that gives us the buzz of going up followed by the despair and recriminations of relegation. If that is what our owners are working on then great, I'll give them time.

This time next year we should know if it's actually the case or just a "lie" as some think everything they say is. We can only go up this season by fluke or by risking the club's future because we can't financially compete with any of the three coming down or some of those that missed out like Charlton. I'll take the former but not the latter. Give me the right coach who can buy into this "project" over a name who wants to spend money we don't have.

Don't give an FCUK if you want to start world war three over it and label me "happy clapper"/ "rose tinted"/ "unambitious" etc, I'm as ambitious for my club as any but only in the right way, and throwing cash we don't have at it is stupid as Richmond proved.

 

If these lot do even half of what Big Geoff did for us then we'll all be very happy.

Richmond himself said his spending was madness. Nowhere have I described his reign as stupid, just the fact that his stupidity nearly ruined us. Fact.
