I'm quite happy to forgo instant gratification in deference to a longer term plan if it means we can go up and stay up. I don't need promotion this season to be the be all and end all, nor next season but if we did go up by fluke then great.

I want to see a club that can build solid footings to become an established championship team rather than one that gives us the buzz of going up followed by the despair and recriminations of relegation. If that is what our owners are working on then great, I'll give them time.

This time next year we should know if it's actually the case or just a "lie" as some think everything they say is. We can only go up this season by fluke or by risking the club's future because we can't financially compete with any of the three coming down or some of those that missed out like Charlton. I'll take the former but not the latter. Give me the right coach who can buy into this "project" over a name who wants to spend money we don't have.

Don't give an FCUK if you want to start world war three over it and label me "happy clapper"/ "rose tinted"/ "unambitious" etc, I'm as ambitious for my club as any but only in the right way, and throwing cash we don't have at it is stupid as Richmond proved.

Know absolutely nothing about him, but on the basis that Wolves have signed him on for another couple of years he must have something about him.

For a club in a limited budget it's absolutely essential that we use the loan market well. Players can develop a hell of a lot faster in a successful outfit rather than one struggling to pick up points each week.

Would that include GR putting us into £36m of debt, leasing obligations for players(!) and other long term commitments just prior to Admin 1? And would it also include GR, his son and the Rhodes taking nearly £8m out of the club in dividends from a club which was making losses? Mmm!

If Rahic and Rupp did even a fraction of what GR did to our club, I'd expect them to be run out of town by the pitchfork brigade!

I think you need to take a look at our signings. They are entirely consistent with the clubs model. They've also said that loans will not be heavily relied upon but at no point have they said the loan market would not be used. It's an opportunity to bring in players which the club would otherwise have no chance signing permanently. It assists in bringing in quality, increasing competition and depth to the squad. That is exactly how it should be used in my opinion.

Surprised a top club like Wolves allowing a player to join us on loan without knowing who our manager/coach is going to be, and how we are setting up to play next season.
But well done to Abbo and Rahic

    & just to level....

What he's not good enough for Wolves first team, they are a tinpot club not even won the Premiership. If he cant get in there team hes not good enough for us. Besides Edin signed him so he's crap & Dutch which is near Germany so hate it.

    Bring back McCall!!!! ;-)

That said, sounds interesting - this squad is getting a bit more exciting all the time if people choose to see it!

Sounds good in theory, but the development squad players have to be good enough, in case they're needed. Otherwise we're up shit creek, just as we found last season, with Hanson, Barr, Pybus, Grodowski getting game time when not good enough.

It includes his overall tenure so yes, even the negative stuff.

    But before the negativity swallows you up, jut imagine;

Imagine a chairman who provided Premier League football and participation in a European competition.
Imagine a chairman that raised the ambition of the whole club and refused to accept league one mediocrity.
Imagine a chairman with the heart and bravery to move us forward as a football club without constantly fearing the reprisals.
Imagine a chairman that led us to our first ever Wembley final, something we'd only ever dreamed of and the feeling of seeing 30,000 City Shirts, Scarves and flags turning Wembley way into a sea of claret and amber.
Imagine a few years later if the old girl had been pulled down without ever having seen the famous Claret and Amber adorning it's magnificent turf?
Imagine having not witnessed the Blackpool second leg? Arguably the greatest game for many fans. Imagine having not seen the arms and legs tumbling down the terraces after Mark Stallard swept in the 3rd and winning goal.
Imagine not signing Chris Waddle? I mean, Chris Waddle! In a Bradford City shirt? leading to THAT goal at Everton.
Imagine not seeing the return of Stuart McCall magnificently leading the team to a first ever PL promotion and some of the best football in living memory?
Imagine not living through THAT day at Wolves? A day that was packed so full of emotion that by the final whistle many were too drained to even celebrate.
Imagine no Robbie Blake, Lee Mills, Peter Beagrie or the countless others that we all remember so fondly, many of them still favorite players from our childhood.
Imagine no memories of PL wins over Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool to name drop a few of the clubs we not only rubbed shoulders with but outfought and actually beat.
Imagine not seeing the pitch invasion post Liverpool and the widespread feeling of pride reverberating around the whole City? We're Bradford City it said and we belong here now!

While you have a think about all that, nip down to VP and have a look at the current infrastructure that's in place. Maybe sit in one of the 25,000 seats and look around as you imagine whether you'd really have given all that up just for another 20 years of mediocrity and stability?

TBF to Wolves, they’re never going to do anything in the Premiership, seen as it’s either a Scottish Football League or a different sport altogether (Rugby Union).
    :D

But on a serious note, stop the afternoon drinking mate. “This Squad is getting a bit more exciting all the time”!!! I’m all for positivity and we all know how much it’s welcome at the moment, but let’s not go overboard. We’ve signed a dev squad striker and 2 boys that have played a handful of senior games between them (3 if we do sign Seedorf). The only other signing was a lad that had 1 excellent season in front of goal.

All welcome additions and may prove to be astute signings, but can we hold back on the quips towards others, i.e. “if people choose to see it!”

Edin's never said that we won't use the loan market but that we don't want to be reliant on it like we have been in previous years and we want to be able to use players from the development squad to cover injuries rather than using loans. He also said that at the forum that we wouldn't take any players on loan with the guarantee that they would play, they'd have to fight for their place like any other player.

Didn't some of that happen under the new owners so that kinda negates your point?

Gillead was good on the ball, but look at the lack of assists/goals, perhaps not really good enough to try and get on a permanent basis?

Lol fair point it' been that long since I've taken an interest that high up I've forgotten what it' called!

Or maybe everyone should take up daytime drinking and bask in the glory! Honestly I think these signings are exciting for a league one club rather than the usual journeyman type players these are hungry with things to prove but we'll see!

Well it is all about choice but a lot on here are choosing to be overly negative so could do with seeing another side for a bit - give it a go if they don' like go back to the grumpy ways!

There is always a risk with any signing granted and the same applies to the development squad. However, the benefit of the development squad is we will closely monitor their progress and - at least it is my understanding - will play the same system as the first team. This should make the transition easier when they are ready. Loans should be seen as an opportunity to add depth and quality to the squad with players who would normally be out of our reach if we were trying to bring them in permanent.
