And for the first 2, we are bang to rights. Letting off or throwing smoke bombs (or whatever we want them to be called), is inexcusable.

But celebrating a goal with our players? Really?

It's not pathetic really given the 3 incidents over the last few weeks involving player security. It is clearly stated and has been for years that you cannot leave the stands and enter the field of play. Yes I know there was no malice and people were excited but given what had happened before.....5 Newcastle fans have been charged for the exact same at Bournemouth and will have convictions and banning orders from all grounds.

 

Heavy handed when it suits, unwilling to take action when it doesn't is not a good mantra.

The authorities unfortunately have to take some blame, just as any inconsistent referee must when control begins to ebb away.

As long lessons are learned by the powers that be about consistency then fine.

Lets see how they react punishments arent handed out to clubs like Millwall when times aren't so politically charged.

 

Bad timing because of recent on field attacks on players having raised the profile.

 

It can't be an issue though.

Either it's allowed, like against Millwall at Wembley, or it isn't.

Still feel that ultimately any invasion of the playing surface or pitch perimeter could be perceived to put players and officials at risk. Yes,I'm one of the oldies on here..I love being amongst young people and as many of my age ..wish they were back in their teens!

If they hand any bans out before I renew my season ticket I might volunteer my name as one of the hoodlums celebrating a goal.

 

It’s not just that though is it people jostling to get on the pitch can lead to injury to the police players and themselves. There are rules and they should be kept to. It’s is entirely possible to celebrate a goal within permitted areas.

 

There were no police there and a couple of stewards. And despite that the fans never went more than a foot or so on the pitch. No one was injured, no one was scarred for life, just a very small highlight in a god awful season.

 

I understand the clubs position, they have rules to adhere to. Every ground you go to there are signs saying it as an offence to encroach on the pitch. There isn’t anything said in this thread that i don’t understand or already know.

 

You see another area where this Peterborough incident seems like utter bollocks is the fact the referee reported the incident yet didn't book any of our players. Isn't the rule that if a player goes too far into the fans to celebrate, he gets a booking?

So he can't say I won't punish the players for leaving the pitch but I'll recommend the FA punish the fans for not entering the pitch. Double standards.

 

What about the people running the show? Do the stewards get adequate training? Didn’t look like it judging by how they dealt with the situation. How much are the players culpable in this? Should they be told what is acceptable when celebrating with fans?

 

We might not have to go back too far.

 

Whether it happened at Newcastle or not, it’s still pathetic. It’s also irrelevant as to what other incidents have occurred- they should be dealt with as appropriate, but a group of fans celebrating with the players as they came over to them is not a law breaker

 

Optimistic thinking they'll be much to applaud.

 

You know when charlie gets carried away, and the stewards calm him down and lead him back to his seat with a quiet word? Well about 10 minutes later, someone always plods around and demands that the stewards do their job correctly and a quiet word isnt enough and Charlie is led away.
Just a thought, but where was the famous man in black on this occasion?
