Sorry but I think that's ridiculous. We're talking about a few kids who've celebrated a rare moment in a depressing season with the players and have not once at any point in those celebrations crossed the white line onto the pitch.

It's completely different to the idiots who got us into trouble regarding flares at rochdale and Walsall

Also the stewards are a disgrace. May as well not be there, they're doing nothing to prevent anyone in that situation.

Is it @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler that provided the quotes in the article? Isn’t he Roger Owen? If so, I’d be pleased to hear his comments on here.

Whilst I don’t condone fans entering the field of play, to suggest they could be banned for up to 3yrs for simply celebrating with fans is OTT.

Maybe Roger should be fighting the FA as to why a charge has been made in the first place. It’s not like a fan has entered the field of play like at Birmingham or Arsenal and confronted a player. They were simply over-zealous with their celebrations.

    Pathetic..!

What’s Rupp’s plan for next season? Are we up for sale? Nothing
Who will be in charge of day to day operations of the club after the end of this season? ...silent
What’s the plan for next season? Who will be manager? Has Scannel sold his jet ski? Nope
Where is Jake Reeves buried? Nope, nothing
Some kids join the players on the side of the pitch to celebrate a rare moment of joy in a dire season? Disgraceful, we will ban them all for 3 years!

    Get a grip...

Did the club ever get anything from the FA, given the far more serious incidents at Wembley when we played Millwall?

Given that the FA provides the stewards, sets the ground rules etc, then it strikes me that they have something to answer!

Might explain why we've not had a shot on target in the two games since that goal. Too risky that someone might come near the pitch.

Way over the top for Roger Owen to suggest imposing 3 year bans on some over zealous kids celebrating a goal. In fact I think it is disgusting. A friendly letter in the post as a warning perhaps.

It's a real shame an idiot referee has reported that non incident. What an absolute tool.

Sorry about appearing inactive but my IT has been down for this site until about one hour ago. There is much comment and I will try to clear as much as I can in one go.

First the good news. I have been responsible for most of the Club's responses to the FA on all issues over the last three or four years so I know how it works. Since and including Rochdale I have made our representations about crowd trouble. I am please to say I got us off further action in the case of Dale and in the last hour I have been successful in avoiding further punishment for Walsall BUT the FA will at some point say "enough is enough" and take stern action against us as repeat offenders and thus we have to take stern action ourselves. Many have said the Posh incident was "just young kids...", no it was not, adults were also there and yes there was encroachment on the pitch which we specifically say is an offence. Attention has rightly been drawn by a poster to the outcome of the Newcastle fans at Bournemouth and their punishment. At some point someone has to suffer the consequences so Posh may have been minor but it happened and we are facing the consequences which could be a fine, points deduction or ground closure, all of which affect the viability of the Club. Not saying that will happen and I make a robust defence to FA charges but totting up will show we are in a poor light.
Some have asked about Milwall at Wembley, QCFC has it right. James Mason and I attended a meeting with the FA, EFL and Wembley Stadium and were advised in the light of the events at that game sweeping changes had been made to security, blah, blah, blah. The whole blame was put on the Stadium Company, the FA and EFL breathed a sigh of relief and quietly dropped our complaint despite several reminders from James.
Some on here are right to suggest there is a hardcore of 12 to 16 year olds but there are also adults who appear to know no better and the trouble goes on, largely at games which are a big travel distance when it is too far or too costly to attend, example being Pompey where there was no trouble. Come 80 miles or so nearer to Bradford and at Oxford we again have trouble with youngsters ripping out a seat and throwing it, apparently aiming at the pitch but hitting a fellow fan causing injury. Imaging the result if the seat had made the pitch and hit the Assistant Ref or a player? We are currently working on this with Oxford and lucky us the Ref did not report.
This CANNOT go on and whilst it is clear many regard my statement as over the top I hope those will at least agree there comes a point where we have to draw a line.

Any other comment on the subject I will be happy to answer, in the meantime our FA response for Posh goes in on Friday.

Completely agree, it was a joyous moment in an absolute wretched season. An outpouring of emotion from players and fans alike. Think the EFL have better things to worry about, like a growing number of clubs facing administration. Some of these fans might not have a club left to celebrate with.

Idiots. Young kids, enjoying a rare moment in a impoverished season and they are idiots???

At the weekend, you claimed in your superior wisdom "The one certain thing is if the fans desert the club like a few say they are going to it will die."
This was in regards to those whom are not to renew their season ticket BTW.

You really are a wonderful human being ain't you?

Why didn't you post something after the Peterborough game, condemning the actions of these "idiots" ?? Yet now, I'll jump on the bandwagon!!

Do you fellow folk on BT think this type of rhetoric is fair? Or will you just turn a blind eye to it?

I've said it before, get a grip, disgusting behaviour.

I find I can’t take anything or rules imposed by the Fa or EFL seriously. I also think that a number of older fans seem to forget what it is like to be young. Of course they wanted to celebrate, the players had gone to the touchline to celebrate with them, in such a season as this who would deny them that pleasure.

I will start to take the powers that be seriously when they apply the rules equally across all clubs. How can we be fined for this, none of the fans were on the pitch. There was no violence or even a threat of violence. The letting off of smoke bombs is another matter and should be treated separately. Yes we will happily take a fine when they apply the same scrutiny into the appalling behaviour of Millwall fans at Wembley. I won’t hold my breath!

I think there are quite a few posters missing the point. This is not about whether or not we, as individuals, feel that this was just a few people harmlessly getting caught up in the moment, celebrating the goal; it is about the risk to the Club, as a result of any action by the football authorities.

In light of recent incidents, elsewhere, the spotlight is clearly on encroachment onto the pitch (and surrounds) and, rightly or wrongly, even seemingly innocent incidents may well result in fines, points deductions, part closure of stands, additional barriers having to be installed etc.

Therefore, to protect themselves, as much as possible, the Club has to be seen to be taking action. In the statement issued, by the Club, it does not say that those involved will be banned for 3 years, only that they "could". It is possible, for example, that the Club could issue 3 year bans and then suspend them.

As for whether or not this was just a bit of harmless exuberance and something that shouldn't be 'punished', well I think some people on here are directing their criticism in the wrong direction. The Club are caught between a rock and a hard place; if you want to criticise, try the FA/EFL.

Its a complete overreaction mate, i know there are rules but there was nothing in this supposed incident. Hardly a pitch invasion, just players and fans living the moment.

There's been criminals stealing a wage setting feet on the pitch since August. Can you please ban them for 3 years too?

Game’s going to the dogs. Seems overly heavy handed to me as well given the context. The high profile pitch encroachment offences at birmingham and hibs will be used as a way to uphold this though, even though they are totally different. It still won’t stop the random nutter intent on getting to a player, but the rarity of that type of thing happening should show you how the two have no commonality. Some will only be happy when you can have a virtual goal celebration app on a phone. That’s after they’ve had the goal checked by VAR for half an hour, meanwhile the ‘moment’ of celebation has passed, of course.
