Seasons over

As poor as we might have been today, the season is hardly over is it.

 

Its not over by any means but I can't see us going up this year.

 

Not a fan of *games in hand* but a point gets us into the play off position

But people keep talking about putting runs of 3 or 4 wins together together to get that 3rd place and it just looks so unlikely.

 

Yeah, weird to say "season over" and "we're inconsistent" in the same thought.

Us being inconsistent is the exact reason the season is not over, because we're neither awful every week or good every week - we're a play off level side with a few bottlers in the team who have nosebleeds every time we win two in a row or approach the autos.

 

Don't think we will get an auto spot. I reckon those will go to Orient, Mansfield and Stockport. But still all to play for for the playoffs.

As bad as today was, and it was really bad, we've proven that we can bounce back from home defeats to crap like Rochdale and put a couple of wins together, coupled with the fact we have a couple of games in hand against a considerable number of the teams above us, there's still everything to play for, starting with a big Yorkshire derby next week backed by 4,000 away fans.

Such is the nature of this league, it's a case of win by all means necessary to get us out of the bloody thing.

 

Agreed, City have a regular goalpoacher and their efforts to supply him and whoever is alongside him was pitiful today.
The slow midfield wont get any quicker anytime soon as this is the way Hughes likes to play.
Wake me and the crowd up when summat exciting happens, please.

 

Season isn't over but automatics probably are, even if not mathematically. We're not consistent and our home form is abysmal.

 

Players aren't capable of the autos, and are clueless against anti-football sides.

 

I have said it before and I’ll say it again, the issue in this league is that of consistency, this is proven week in week out. Anyone can beat anyone, it’s down to being in the right spot in the table at the right time to make a move at the right time. Sure we played badly today but yet again we seem to be naive and unable to raise our game against teams who treat coming to Valley Parade as their cup final.
Unless we are able to make sure we are able to raise our game above any team for every game at VP we will always struggle to get out of this league and go up in the auto’s.

 

4 out of next 6 games are away, which may be a blessing ......

 

We'll get a play off place even with regards how we set up, how that plays out is another thing.

 

Playoff’s are a lottery. The only thing I have witnessed is that the team in form coming into the playoffs usually wins.

 

Of course its a lottery as we've seen in the past from being on both side of the equation, but if we can't make an auto spot which we seem incapable of blowing every good chance we get to keep the heat on other clubs around us in the table I'm quite happy to go down that route rather than finish 8th.

 

Autos are gone, realistically that is going to take 80 plus points and will need 10 wins. Its not going to happen to a team that really doesn't do long runs of form and has won less than half their matches.

The playoff however, are very much still achievable and would only need 7 wins plus a few draws.

So the season is not over, far from it, but we aren't going up unless we can find a way to get to Wembley and win.

 

I try to be positive but I don’t think Hughes knows any other way of playing and unfortunately that will not get us promoted and even the play offs will probably be beyond him. He is negativity personified

 

Of course we would much rather be in the lottery than out of it. I think the majority of fans expected more at the start of the season.
