Agreed, far too early to say Hughes and the positivity at the club will produce an increase in season ticket sales, there's just too much going on to really gauge it.

But Ryan would have dumb as rocks to increase the season ticket price considering we might already be looking at a decline.

The right thing isn’t to increase prices.

That said though I don’t expect food and drink prices to go up either.

    Poor decision.

Yes the cost of living is going up, this means the club's costs and bills are going up too, which will mean less in the pot to put on the pitch.

At some point the club is going to have to do something because we have a fanbase who expect us to punch our weight in the division, but baulk at paying even an average price for tickets which ultimately contributes to us not being able to do so.

Most oddly of all a large part of our fanbase seem to think any kind of marketing campaign, or a modest price increase should also somehow guarantee promotion, as if football was as simple as that.

It's a good job we have an owner with the financial muscle to compete in the Championship, then, isn't it?

There simply isn't an argument for raising ticket prices, and the idea it's a make-or-break for a competitive budget is utter drivel.

Maybe as regards rising costs we should try as few night games as possible, The cost of lighting VP is very expensive even before the huge rises,

I don’t think we have any control over number of midweek games

Think you are right but the clubs should be working with the league to avoid as many as possible to help the clubs with rising costs, The floodlights alone will cost thousands to put on each night game.

The only alternative would be to play midweek afternoons like we did during the power cuts in the 70s.

I remember bunking off school to watch them, and was surprised as my dad was when I saw that he had taken an unscheduled break from his driving job and rocked up as well. We both made a pact not to tell mum!

Costs are going to rise massively but our income isn't, don't we also have a scheduled rent increase kicking in too? If some of this isn't passed onto the customer then the consequences are obvious.

Mark Hughes has just said he'll have an 'extremely competitive budget' next season, so what consequence is this?

It doesn't get any clearer than Rupp outlining to the manager that he can expect a good budget.

That pretty much ends the talk about not being competitive.

As with everything else that is increasing, so for many people the choice could be feed my children, heat my home, pay the mortgage to keep a roof over our heads, used the car as little as possible only for work etc, or pay more for our season tickets, as has been said many times would we rather have a 24,000 seater stadium 3/4 full and all that goes with it with regards hospitality, merchandising, or 8/9,000 who may not be able to then afford a pint or food in the bars, and a big drop of in shirts, scarves etc.
We are a business and as with every other business you can only pass on so much to your customer, it gets to a situation where people have to make choices and reduce their expenditure elsewhere.
I see Cadburys are reducing the size of their chocolate bars as they don't want to increase the price, which advertising guru came up with that one.

Given the size of our fanbase our budget in league 2 should be much better than competitive.#

As I said in my original post in this thread there is an expectation from most that we throw our weight around at this level, we won't if we're not maximising sources if income, especially in the current economic climate.

Many people are going to be plunged into poverty with rampant inflation and power and petrol prices going through the roof football is low down the priority list with many people so keeping the prices affordable is commendable and the right thing to do
