I think when the season ends and we get into summer people start missing football . I do think we would sell more

Lawn said at one point in League 2 that commercial revenues were broadly the same as ticket sales and tended to be proportionate to attendances. That means we might also lose 1/3rd of commercial revenue. Perhaps we might see a boost to pay on the day punters but it's still a big loss of money to add to reduced season ticket revenue. If we lose £400k ticket revenue and £400k commercial revenue. That might turn a roughly £500k loss this year into a £1.3m loss next year before windfalls. These are only guessed numbers, and Edin is trying to make the club more efficient, but think what anything like that does to the playing budget if they don't want to put fresh money in. That's why you only buy an English league club if you have money to burn. So, is anyone going to put fresh money in or is the playing budget going to get hammered?

Right so last season's 11th placed budget was cut this season to lets say a 15th placed budget. Given that Edin has said the budget reflects season ticket sales, and after the 33% drop in season ticket sales, it looks like the budget will also face a 33% cut, leaving us with what, a bottom 6 budget? However considering we sold more season tickets for this season than we did for last and still had a budget reduction, is it possible that we'll face a bigger cut than 33%.

This, coupled with the possibility of JCT and Mitton pulling sponsherships really leaves me worried for next season.

Agree, my point was people may be applauding the 12k out of relief, rather than any excitement. The worry for me is that (other than Mason's earlier, wishy washy statement) there seems to be little or no attempt from the club to address the issue and actually, we are hearing less and less from them as the weeks tick by.

Good post and a very worrying scenario.

I actually hope JCT and Mitton pull their sponsorship for next year as they still have a year left on their contract so they will still be paying, and we get to sell it again. Double bubble.

I think that once you set a deadline, in reality you should stick with it. You could argue and some will, that by extending the deadline, those who pay early could have held on to their money for a longer period.

For me, the solution is to have a clear timetable, produced several weeks in advance. Something on the lines of:-

    • First of January, confirm date when details of next seasons arrangements/prices will be released.
    • Middle of January publish prices, packages, changes in system and date on sale.
    • Early February commence selling tickets. Phase one are at the discounted rate. This to run to the last day in March (a seven weeks window).
    • Around 6th April have a second phase, to run until third week in May (so the club has a very good idea of the income before the transfer market reopens, which this year is 17th may 2018).
    • Standard rate there on.
I would also add the following initiatives:-
    • Anyone buying a new Season Ticket for the following season, would have the same rights as current fans, to purchase tickets for any potential play off game.
    • Introduction of a 'half season' ticket. On sale from 25th November, for matches after 25th December 2018, set at £10 a game for adults and pro rata for concessions. So if we had 12 games, then they would be £120. A great Christmas present.
    • Set up a direct debit system for people who wanted to pay in installments, perhaps by a continuous payment authority.
    • Kids for a quid. Great scheme in the past, perhaps one off games.

@Bigrod@Bigrod - Get that sent in to Mason for next year. If they announced that at start of the year people would know what was happening and be able to plan accordingly.

Whilst I think your plan is well thought out and coherent. I think no other entertainment ask you to pay months in advance. I would commence sales at a fixed price the day after the season ended till 4 weeks before the season starts With a cut of price to renew seats in the middle.

I think £169 is fair enough

I know where you are coming from, however City is a business. They will have to set a budget for the financial year 2018/2019. A significant amount of the income, will be ticket sales. By offering significant incentives, City can work out a substantial element of their budget prior to the opening of the transfer window. That will inform them how they can use the guaranteed revenue, for players, staff and other essential items. We will know who we can reasonably target and what work can be done, for instance on the pitch.

That sounds similar to @Bigrod@Bigrod suggestion. The fixed price being £299 and the cut price being £169

I think i've gone along with this from the start. I agree, i think years ago they used to call them early bird deals where if you bought early you would get the equivalent of few games free whereas now its half the price. No one will buy at the full price so any floating voters changing their mind in the summer are lost. Easy to say they should have just renewed at the cheap price but we have potentially a few thousand fans where some could change their mind dependant on what goes on in the summer.Would be a shame to lose some of them because the price has doubled.

Generally, I agree with this approach, although I'd go a bit further and announce the dates when season tickets will go on sale even further ahead, so that no one can say they weren't warned well in advance.

That would be great Ronnie, it would mean we have something positive to watch. The downside is, you cannot budget for the numbers.
