As Hopkin states, he will be almost like a new signing. Hopefully, a few weeks with McElhone and he will be fitter than ever, and tuned into the work ethos McElhone and Hopkin are creating. There is no doubt he has the talent, and should be a star at this level

No he won't be a new signing.. this is another thing that we need to stop with.. He will be a player returning from injury not match fit. I hope the club don't try and pass this off as a "new signing" and not sign another winger type player! As that just does not wash for me

He could end up being a replacement for Payne, if that makes sense. Different type of player, but similar talent profile.

He was better than most at the start of the season our only threat in most of the games

Be interesting to see his mindset when he returns. I'd heard (I know, I know) that such was the shambles of how we were operating in 2018, that he deeply regretted joining the club in the early part of the season and wanted away in January.
Hopefully that's changed, and our professional attitude to training and playing will bring him around. If he's properly fit and bought into what we're doing, he could be a great addition once back. He could play in a number of positions - in the space where Ball/Payne have played, just behind the strikers. He could play on the right of a midfield 3, where Mellor has played, or as an out and out winger. He could also play at wing back if needed (if Caddis is ever out).
He'll be one of our biggest earners - we need him to produce.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Onside, bantamdave41, Idlebantam and 1 other person like this. -
Given City fans are often known to big up players our of the team (Sattelmaier, Gibson, Brunker to name three recent examples) I'm surprised by the amount of flak Scannell is coming in for. The whole team was gash in the opening months, so he deserves a clean slate when fit IMO.Brackenrigg, Johnny Yen, BoingBoing and 1 other person like this. -

For me done nothing before injury and don't expect much when he returns but happy to be proved wrong and have egg on my face.

If we can get him back fit and playing regularly he would be a big asset and could help fill the void if Payne departs.

Can you recall what brilliance you saw? This is out of interest, I'm not saying you're wrong, I just wondered if you could jog my memory.
Did he have any goals or get any assists?
Genuinely cannot remember him having any sort of impact, but I'm still expecting far more when he comes back firing for a team with much, much more motivation, belief and tactical nous.Briggus, Rogered Tart and Ricky like this. -

I think (and believe this to be happening) that all the players are being given fresh chance to prove themselves.. This starts in training

I agree Inspector but even most of the shower at that time were a 3-4- 5 or 6 at most.
