To be fair, Park's sentiment probably relates to the matter of fact statement that 'everyone else is playing for second' based on a good signing.

Salford didn't even win the title in non-league, they'll need a few very good signings to cement first place.

Is Towell any more exciting than learning we had signed Scannell and Payne and Butterfield for half a season. He has gone for money his ambition is nil

I'm not sure they'll do too much right now to be honest. Like you said Alexander is average and nearly bottled promotion last season with them. And as we all know players on big wages can go either way. Personally I hope they fall flat on their face and go straight back to non league where they belong.

Don’t Salford have to abide by the same financial fair play rules that the rest of have to?

Yes they do. This means that owners can gift money pretty much without limit, as long as it is a gift. In the case of Salford, this gives them a free pass. Their owners can afford to pump money in - they are not on a budget.

I't'll never really be a level playing field and for every Club that buys a bit of success, there is always another who gets there on a budget.

    How does it?

Money is spent at every level and is no guarentee of success.

People complain about Man City but they did it the right way. They got top directors of football from Barcelona etc. Got the best coach in the world and have a fantastic ceo who runs it day to day and then the money obviously helps from the top.

Not every club who gets significant investment ends up at the top and wins things. It has to be done right. And that is one thing that annoys me about people complaining about Man City etc. They have spent money but who hasn’t? They do it right and are reaping the rewards.

If you don't think a League One football club paying a seven figure sum is football going the wrong way fair enough. Salford rumoured to be paying 6k a week for Towell, it's absolute madness and has a knock effect on every other club in the EFL.

I guess its what suits your agenda. It was the wrong place to play the game but the game itself wasn't that bad. The second half Chelsea played arguably the best football of their season.

Reasons to believe and reasons not to.I spent a lot of time at Rushden when Griggs was building the Stadium and the fantastic facilities attached to it. It was the blueprint of it's time and was not evolved in a financially reckless manner,I believe at the time it was akin to a few pence on a pair of DM's. Sad and unbelievable to witness it's demise since though. I remember various pros paying a visit and in particular, George Best remarking what a great facility it was.

What you are saying is correct but it doesn't make it right. Look at the premier league and championship and the amount of players being paid way over what they are worth - just because certain clubs can afford to do that. For an example of that close to home you only need to look at Butterfield, reportedly on 30k a week at Derby. I didn't see anything from him whilst he was with us to suggest he is worth anywhere near that, did you?

Absolutely correct @Faithful Bantam@Faithful Bantam. It’s alright ppl saying they admire club owners doing this and others say it has always been this way. However, hands up for the extinction of several clubs who don’t have a wealthy owner in tow? Oh and btw City would be one of them!

If this is not addressed any time soon expect a number of clubs go out of business.

It's hardly political correctness, it's corruption... if it was about political correctness then neither Qatar or the final in Baku would have happened. Nor Russia

That’s what they want you to think.

What happens if a club fails it? They are fined first. How is that helping the small clubs stay debt free or away form debt?

You cant have a franchise system, where new clubs cannot join. How can a club like Salford join the big leagues if they cannot spend? Its very dangerous when they are solely reliant though on investment. Could argue that its even worse in Spain where the TV money is heavily slanted towards Real Madrid and Barcelona. Not only do they have the best teams they start the 100m's race with a 20m headstart
