The whole financial fair play is a load of old bollocks created by the top clubs who don’t want a small club joining their exclusive club.

    Be glad when it’s gone

You're right. The two key factors driving up wages at the highest level are the TV revenue and the private investment at clubs like PSG, City and Chelsea. Its completely distorted the playing field and the effects are cascading down the Leagues - the combined operating loss for championship clubs this season is £510m. That's an average of 24m for each club. In one season. That's completely unsustainable and to be honest, makes it pointless us even trying to get there.

I’m sure he could have gone to Rotherham at top end of league one, with a chance to get them back into championship.

He has gone for money. No two ways about it.

Yo've got to love Darragh MacAnthony. I'm not a Peterborough fan but i admire what he does and how he goes about running his football club. All this guff about it being not fair and being bad for football, no one was saying that at City when Geoffrey Richmond was splashing the cash, it was great time to be a Bradford fan. I'd love to see our club speculate like MacAnthony has this pre season, instead i'm trying to get excited about a from the eighth tier of english football and a keeper that can't get a game at Port Vale.

One signing does not determine a season but imagine as @WilsdenBantam@WilsdenBantam has just alluded to, that we had jusy made that signing. Parks reaction would have been somewhat different.

The whole system of financial regulation in football needs reform.

The whole purpose of the regulation should focus on two principle aims:

    1. Ensuring that ticket prices are affordable for the masses
    2. Ensuring that football clubs have to be run sustainably, without being financially doped by private investment.

The whole landscape is skewed, isnt ‘fair’ and is putting more and more pressure on the paying supporter and the very existence of some clubs.

Bradfordbanter just beat me to it. It was like a pre season friendly, it was weird and I cannot recall a major football final played with so little atmosphere. All to be politically correct and take a final to the most outflung post of Eastern Europe.

Im dreading the World Cup in Qatar, because it will just be the same

It'll be worse mate because it will be taking place in the winter. That's not the time a World Cup should be taking place, it just isn't right.

I guess whether the Towell signing (or any more like it) turn out to be decent or not will depend on whether the player/s have signed because they really want to play for Salford or just because they are picking up a large pay packet. We all know how the latter can turn out.

This will be Graham Alexanders second season at Salford he'll have a very good Idea of where he needs to strengthen and he knows these lower leagues very well from his past experiences, he has backing from his owners I'd be very surprised if Salford are not in at least play off spot come the end of the season.

Think you're missing my point How, Posh have done well with the player recruitment and clearly investing back but this is a league one club paying £1.5 million pounds??? Players demands will change on the back of events like this.

Qatar definitely corruption. Not sure about Baku, just think UEFA trying to spread the game to countries that are not particulary football mad, but backfired in my opinion

Not really. Past the Championship no one really cares what happens bar the fans of those clubs. The premier league cares about nothing but itself and in a sense why should it? Can't let tail wag the dog. The premier league has gone way past the point some were thinking where all they saw was impending doom. The big kicker these days is the foreign market and they can't get enough of premier league football.

Not sure I would say buying the league. Through most of those seasons other teams outspent United . If you look at most seasons United would buy one Marquee signing and then the rest were lower key ones. And it was always done with the clubs own money and wages were always at around 50% of revenue. Certainly a lot of the players United bought had better financial offers on the table from teams like Leeds, Blackburn, Newcastle or even Liverpool and later on Chelsea and City. Unless you moved to a draft system you are always going to get talent being attracted to a more successful team.

If anything United are trying to buy the league more now than during Fergies time because without being right at the top of the game more money has to be spent to persuade people to join
