After just reading his doyle article in T@A never thought I'd say it but need rid.

Saying need a few things in window.....no this squad should be good enough already.

Also suggesting needs more time as in a few seasons like a few other managers have had. A joke.

Reading this and Ryans comments the club are aware of some fans unrest.

Yes very worrying him saying we need to "tighten up at the back"
We need to attack and score goals but sadly that doesnt seem in his remit
He sounds to be aspiring to Colchester at the moment and holding them as a yardstick
because he is in his 3rd season
Begining to feel the pressure ???

Whilst acknowledging the unrest they do (Ryan) seems fairly dismissive to the same citing last season as a reason for stability.

I understand the theory that stability is required after a turbulent 18 months, however if it becomes apparent that things aren't working this should not be a reason not to change. Granted they may have more patience than what is now appearing to be a majority of the fan base, dangerous ground though to ignore the growing discontent.

In the summer GB said he'd need 2-3 windows to turn it around as some players were on very high wages and there was a level of acceptance of that amongst fans. Are we dismissing that now?

I'm not sure it's the majority, I would hope they have more patience we've seen in the time under Rahic and now Rupp sacking managers doesn't work.

Fair point on majority although there certainly appears to have been a swing - difficult to tell I know, I was purely gauging on social media and comments around the ground (although emotions will have been running high).

The point on sacking managers is flawed, you have to assess every circumstance in it's own right. There is no guarantee that blindly sticking with a manager would result in success either. Peter Taylor a manager with more pedigree that Bowyer, was given 46 games to Gary Bowyer's current 44 - would sticking with him have seen the upturn in fortunes which followed?

This is his second so he's got until the 31/01 to have this magical squad he's going to put together. Think that acceptance disappears when us fans are going home and away spending fortunes to go watch his sides and he gives us that turgid stuff for our reward. I went to Macclesfield, Orient and Carlisle was it in the space of 3 week? It was unforgivable what he gave us. He's made a rod for his own back. I'm sure if he actually sent us out on the pitch for 3 points the fans wouldn't be on his back. He's caused this lack of patience which the fans were willing to give him at the start of the season. He's took the piss out of the fans so he gets no sympathy from me. If he gives us something back I'm sure the fans would be right behind him including myself. He has to earn the respect of the fans but he's making blunder after blunder at the moment. His interviews this week have been embarrassing.

It’s the expectation level that is beyond the scale we are in the top seven not mid table or relegation we spent seven years last time and during that time we had some decent players on loan and otherwise. We are in the top seven and we have been all season.

The are no guarantees either way, but as I posted it certainly hasn't worked for Bradford City on previous appointments before Bowyer, who is still work in progress, which I believe will will get us promoted come the end of this season.

Before you accuse...no I am not a ‘Happy Clapper’

But the atmosphere here is so completely negative and this posting is a prime example...where is the balance. It smacks of hoping for failure.

What happens if we win 2 or 3. What if we get 2 away draws ands a win in the third...will the CHEERS ring out around VP?

The level if negativity is truly astounding.

    Get a grip man

Unfortunately that's how it goes with some fans be they Bradford City or Man U, we have just been through one of the worst periods I can remember following City, because of one man Edin Rahic.
We now have a manager who has us in a very good position league wise for promotion this season but it seems because we haven't got there by playing free flowing football (yes it been dire at times) it makes our league position less valid, as you say a pick up in form that has us in the top 3 the atmosphere will be totally different, football fans eh ;).

I think this is the key to it. I went and sat at Carlisle on Boxing day (sat because there was absolutely nothing to get me out of my seat) Afterwards I gave the next few games a miss . I ventured back on Saturday - oh dear. Not sure what will motivate me to go again. Not bothered where we are in the table there's nothing to get behind and if the sack-him brigade get their way he'll only have himself to blame.

All opinions though, I don't think anyone is asking for free flowing football at all - there is middle ground from that and what we have seen this season.

I also don't think fans aren't unhappy with the league position, although (and rightly IMO) there are concerns as to whether we can stay there. Bowyer himself seems to like the phrase that teams are in a false position, this statement would apply to us moreso than anyone - again in my opinion.

I was of the same mind as you Bronco but we absolutely dropped a bollock over the Christmas period and January. We are playing teams that we should be putting away with relative ease yet we seem to be turning up looking like the lads have never played a game together. We have nobody getting near the front two so it's to JV to work off scraps, he's a finisher and he showed that with his finish from the cross on Saturday. He needs to be in the box with support from the midfield....

I'm patient enough and I think when we have CD and Devitt back involved it will make a difference but watching Parkinsons teams was more entertaining..... I can cope with sh1t football if we are winning games but our form is very very concerning.

Bronco. Spot on. It has taken Swindon 2 or is it 3 seasons to recover. We may do it in one!

The football at the moment is appalling but I certainly do not buy into the line, that some contributors on here try to sell, that if we were playing the ‘beautiful’ game, regardless of the result they would be happy. Sorry B....S! If we had lost on Saturday having had 67% possession, more shots, corners, splaying passes around like a Yorkshire Brazil etc the people complaining about our defensive set up would be demanding action because we can’t win games.

Right now I don’t care if I am ‘entertained’ (whatever that means in football terms) but I do care about the result. Points mean prizes and no one will be bothered come May if we look crap but go up.

    Football fans eh...,perfect summing up!

If you offered me promotion but at the expense of having to endure the football that we have seen this season, then of course I would take it. The problem is that I do not believe that this is what will happen and I think fans are correct in airing their concerns.

I doubt anyone is seriously expecting to see City playing the beautiful game, however I would like to be travelling to matches with more hope and expectation that I will see a performance from my team than I currently do.

Defensive setups have been successful in the past, it is by no means a guaranteed that this formula will result in success (just like a more expansive approach). Is it really too much to expect to see more corners than bookings on our match stats? Had we found ourselves 0-2 down on Saturday, could you realistically have seen us getting back in to the match?

8 out of Swindon's starting 11 on saturday were signed this season. This idea that they've been magically building this squad for a few years is nonsense.

Bowyer and the club are right, we do need stability and we need to back the manager over the course of a few seasons, just like we did with Parky and just like some of the other high flyers have done in L2.

    However.

We need to back the RIGHT manager, not just the one we currently have.

Gary Bowyer is not going to produce the team we want in two-three season's time. He might get us promoted, he might not - but what is certain is he's already cast the mould, and the style he's going to try to get us promoted with is tedious, negative, and overly cautious.

I disagree with some posters that they would mindlessly back attacking football even if we lost, because they wouldn't - just like some didn't under McCall. But we have to get the balance right, and right now Bowyer looks like the wrong man to me.

    An empty stadium manager.
