Sack Collins now before it's too late. Sack him!

Unless we have a major change of tack from the owners we will not get any one who has a decent chance of putting our club back on an upward curve. No way I agreed with Parky all the time but he stuck to his guns and the owners backed him the best they could.

I'm sure Julian and Mark "know football" to a decent degree but appreciated that in Parky they appointed someone who knew a lot better.

Stuart and Grayson (who on the face of it was disappointing) know a damn lot more than R & R but they just don't get it.

 

Collins has had a better start than Parkinson did in his last season. 4.1 defeat at Swindon, a 1.1 home draw with Shrewsbury followed by a dismal 1.2 home defeat to Gillingham. Despite an awful start then in which we had just 10 points from the first 10 games we still got in play offs, so there is always hope.

 

Funny isn’t it that no one is slagging off Abbott yet he’s the senior partner in the firm.

No one would know where we'd be @Captain Grumpy its hypothetical , if Mark & Julian had still been here so would Phil Parkinson, we dont know if he would have got better results in Cup games but his past record suggest he would.
I dont know why you suggest we wouldn't have brought Wyke in if Hanson had been sold, once again hypothetical.
Because Stefan has been a very successful man in his business venture does not mean he will make a good football chairman, and more so IMO having no or little hands on experience, I accept one doesn't automatically go with the other but if your investing 80% of the finance to buy the club you have someone running the show who has past experience in the job, unfortunately Edin is not that person, and if he can't see that over the time he's been at the club hes a very foolish man, IMO these two have taken our club back two years rather than progressed the club during their ownership.

 

I wonder if MC was appointed due to Abbott not wanting the job? It's odd giving him the job on the basis of a poor record working with the under 18's and him not applying for it.

I think there's an element of doing the appointment on the cheap after all the recruitment and if it pays off fine,but if it fails,sack MC and ask Abbott to take over as we would be in a fix.Abbott would no doubt feel obliged to take charge and then it could become permanent due to nobody else wanting the job!

Well that's OK then he had a better start that Parkinson in his last season, Collins won't get that far but I'll have a little wager that if Collins is still here we are not in a play off position which Parkinson got us as you say during his last season, any takers ?.

 

Yeah it’s a crying shame there wasn’t half a dozen games before the season started for the team to gel and for the coaching staff to organise the team and the system they want to play. In the absence of that let’s waste a quarter of the season eh? Or should we give him all the season?

 

Surely you bring in players that have been researched to fit a style of play and have the chemistry and skills to adapt to a planned formation.

See, that's the thing - the blame for the pathetic preseason effort has to rest with Rahic.

The games were arranged (when and where they shouldn't have been) while we were negotiating with everyone but Collins.

Signings were being made while Collins was U18 coach (and I don't care if he was or wasn't involved in the committee - it's a big departure from being U18 coach with an interest in signings to head coach wholly responsible for their performance).

Ultimately, Collins took over and two or three were not fit for purpose.

Cancellations, postponements, hastily arranged friendlies behind closed doors...

It didn't spell certain doom by any means, it's JUST preseason, but given the words 'disorganised', 'out-competed' and 'unfit' have been banded around, it's definitely had a major impact.

Woh woh woh, calm down everyone. Things are going exactly to plan. Has everybody forgotten the wise words of Collins during pre-season?

Remember when he was questioned about the lack of first team players game time during pre-season friendly's? Collins responded by informing one and all that things were progressing well in training and the season was a marathon not a sprint. He doesn't want to start the season with a bang - I mean come on, why would we want to do that?! - it's much better to start slow and build up to a glorious climax come the end of the season.

Collins is building a false sense of security but once he pushes that button, BANG! The opposition won't know what's hit them as we run away with the league title ala Sheffield Utd style.

Mwah ha ha ha ha - what a cunning plan.

Pre season results mean jack.
In all honesty its down to the players to sort themselves out and "gel".
You can lead a horse to water etc etc.

The players have to take a long hard look at themselves right now and buckle down.

Josh Wright said the players had badly let the management team down and he was right. They had.

Collins said himself that we were going out to win games from the start of pre-season, he's the man who isn't getting his players to perform to his system/formation, no one else to blame he picks the 11 starters he believes will deliver a positive result playing the formation they have practiced in training.
