He was only hired because nobody else wanted the job. We interviewed manager after manager, and time and time again, they pulled out after hearing about how little control they'd have. If we sacked Collins, it would just be the same, and we'd end up with another 'manager' out of his depth.
The problem isn't Collins, the problem is that the 'manager' isn't on the sidelines, he's up in the executive box.

I don't understand this preoccupation with sacking Collins and expecting some miraculous change in our fortunes. He isn't the real problem; he's simply a symptom of a deeper problem within the club.
Collins is what he is and it's the same things he was before being appointed. A head coach of a League 1 football club who has never coached in a pro league or in truly competitive football. He has been part of the team which has assembled a good squad but still with some holes in it. But he hasn't as yet convinced anybody that he has the experience or nous to mould this group of players together to get the best out of them. He doesn't yet appear to know what formation or formations play to their individual strengths. He's just inexperienced in all of these things and having been thrown in at the deep end isn't the best way to learn. He wasn't even sufficiently confident in himself to have applied for the job. He was offered the job because there were no other takers and probably because he was a cheap option which would have been an important factor for his employers. But he was appointed to the job despite all of these shortcomings. And all of that is what we already know.
Sacking him won't solve any of this. If he were to be sacked now, he'd be paid off and we'd be back to square one with another Collins clone or worse! Nothing would really have been learned. The best we can hope for and it pains me to say this is that performances don't improve dramatically over the next few weeks and Rahic comes under pressure to change things from his fellow shareholder. But whatever happens at this stage, I don't see anything positive coming out of it.
Rahic's approach is highly flawed and continuing with it albeit with a different head coach will probably produce the same results further down the line. The problem is the current approach and not just the current coach. It's the approach which has to be changed and not just the coach. -

Edin had half a season's grace last year thanks to McCall's success.
When it fell apart, he packed his silly little practices away (partially) and brought in someone who understands how to manage a club - but Grayson couldn't halt our downward spiral.
This season, that period of grace has lasted four games - and I doubt any good manager will rescue us from Edin's mess.
This club will be ruined by this guy.
Let's get him out before we're trying to regain our League One status (or worse).
Stefan, pull the plug please.

I’m inclined to agree but I don’t think any manager could turn this bunch of excuses for footballers into a team. Edin has messed up big time, it’s him that needs to go

How many weeks are we going to have to suffer Collins's? Seriously.
Down to 10 men and they score.
He takes off our most creative player.
We need to demand he is sacked!

@RonnieBrown
So, he's had his 2 games. 1 win and 1 loss.
We were lucky to win on Tuesday with a dire performance and today were we pain & simple just awful.
Collins has to go. Seriously, way, way, way out of his depth.
The longer we stick with Collins the closer we look at division 2. He's a real shocking manager.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Steve1970, RonnieBrown, Morley Bantam and 8 others like this. -

I've just heard Collins say that he can accept poor performances as long as there is effort, WTF!!!!!..You are not managing the under 18's now, you are managing a decent sized club in league 1 with a very expectant and large fanbase
Collins refused to answer Jason's question about why Killa not involved again. Sorry Mr Collins, thats very poor, the fans need answersUtters0, Bantam75, Skyebantam and 7 others like this. -
Poor pre season and a poor start to the season totally out of his depth, don’t blame him but he should never have been given the job in he first place, hope I am proven wrong.

I don't like Collins. He comes across as very arrogant and stubborn and I think he's clueless and way out of his depth. And I can see signs that the players have already given up on him despite what some of them say to fill up the back page of the T&A. And his treatment of Killa is clearly on the instructions of Rahic which makes him a puppet to my mind. But he's not the problem, merely a symptom. I don't believe we'll get anywhere (except League 2) until the Germans leave the club, but how is that to be achieved? Would they sell up if the fans at home games turn against them? Will a consrtium persuade them to go? If Collins continues to fail, as he surely will, can Rahic sack him without losing face? These are potentially desperate times.

Its taken just four games to get us back to where we were in the second half of last season. Still lightweight in terms of quality squad numbers, team playing with no idea of what they are supposed to be doing after an abysmal pre season, this on the back of Rahic appointing a management duo with no football league first team managerial experience who never applied for the job in the first place, not even as assistants. What could go wrong eh?

My worry was always whether the trio of Collins, Drury & Abbott were capable in a matchday scenario. They might be the best coaches Monday to Friday but what can they do to make an impact during the 90mins. Obviously the players aren't likely to say otherwise but this is proving to be the case with positive messages coming out regarding the work on the training pitch, but its yet to bring much result on a matchday when it matters.
That said, it still feels early to be demanding change and I don't think Edin is near considering it yet. He would look foolish after the six week hunt to fire him less than four weeks into the season. I'd also say that Collins has to be given the time to prove he can cope. We can see the frustrations and limitations with the setup so surely he and Drury/Abbott can as well, what does he/they have in him to rectify it.
It feels ridiculous to consider the next two home games as vital but I think they are. Over previous years we've had early season home games that have arguably set the tone, a spirited win over Fleetwood in the history makers season, the late win against Port Vale in the first play off season, the thrilling win against Coventry in the second play off season - what have this lot got in them to set the tone? If they can't win over the crowd against Burton & Wycombe then I fear it could be lasting damage for the coaching staff and players.Chad, Aaron Baker, Onside and 7 others like this. -

Four games in and having seen him sat on the bench whilst the players are still in the dressing room at half time, having heard the quote about the game being lost at 0/0, him not having the balls to at least put Kilgallon on the bench (whatever the back story is) and finally having heard that bizarre comment yesterday about "when we choose to bring him back into the squad then I no longer have any sympathy for any of them.
Anything less than four points from the next two matches and I want them all gone. Simple as that, Edin has made a massive mistake that he will have to admit to and Collins has allowed himself to be promoted way way beyond his capability. Drury has just gone along with it to save his job and Abbott has either stabbed his mate in the back and found a way around it appearing so, or has been a bigger fool than the cone heads put together.

If he doesn't go before the loan deadline we'll be in the same situation as when Grayson took over. A new manager being unable to bring in who he needs. Edin must bite the bullet and ditch all three this week.
There's such a disconnect between coaches, players and fans that the atmosphere at home, is becoming one of dread and fear. We had this before Parky rocked up and it'll take a similar character to turn it around.
