Guys, Rowe was a signing that was a bit of a gamble (all his career basically in a lower league positions than even we have been) but was made with good intent. It hasnt worked out as hoped so lets wish Danny good luck for the future and get on with the future. Thats life! Do you seriously think RS doesnt know we have to replace him with a better signing in this position? He was never a world beater so I dont understand some of the drama on here in relation to DR, right now we have bigger fish to fry - why we have bodged up a shot at the play offs, T&S showing they are up to it going forward, getting the retained list and prospect list right for next season, and all the commercial aspects necessary to drive the club forward

Staff, interesting that RS seems to have indicated that a number of players will be moving on (did you suggest as many as 12?) but MT is still insisting in the paper this morning that nothing will be sorted re contracts until the season is over - a bit of a contradiction here dont you think?
Dont know who they are but a scout I know has told me he knows of a couple of players we have already talked to who in his words 'should meet with universal thumbs up' - I said he doesnt know some of the people on this forum!

 

If things weren't right behind the scenes you don't pick Rowe to sit out the game on the bench and then push one of your CD up top, then to hear his post match interview suggests to many they were cluching at straws, as a fan for me he could have had Cook, Donaldson and Rowe on for the last 20 or so minutes we had nothing whatsoever to lose and all to gain.
I believe it was during Jewells time we were losing to Barnsley with time running out, that afternoon Jewell threw Flash on as a last ditch effort having 4 strikers playing and turning a defeat into victory I'm not suggesting it would work every time but at least give the team and fans a chance to see the football management are being positive, instead of a CD up front then introducing Donaldson in the 91st
minute.

You mean an unchanged side, same formation playing for a draw, and bringing subs on after 70mins?

 

At a guess AOC, Stevens, Burrell, Wood, Ismail, Clarke and Donaldson get something like 600k a year between them. They won’t be missed and you can cut the budget by 300k on replacements of equal or better quality.

 

Probably not far off. AOC will be on quite a wedge based upon when he was signed. Wood is apparently on a decent amount and imagine the Don and Zeli both getting decent wages. Don’t think we’d be paying much for Burrell and Stevens. but yeah think your overall estimate is probably quite accurate.

That was one of the "stand-out" games in all my time watching City. Watson came on and Barnsley were terrified of him. The atmosphere was transformed with the sight of Watson appearing and the crowd was instrumental in the turnaround. A truly unforgettable finish to the game.

 

Why would I know if they’ve had a bust up? Obv i don’t know for sure. Im not a player Im just a fan. Fans have no right to know every last detail that goes on on the training ground. Stuff is managed in house - bust ups happen at clubs all across the country every day but most don’t result in players moved on after three months.

fact he’s been rushed out the door before the season is over gives you good reason to think he was a negative influence. We cant sign anyone to replace him. You’d leave him in squad and potentially use him if he wasnt a negative influence. Playoffs arent mathematically over yet etc

how many signings can you recall being moved on so quickly?????

 

If a player is not willing to fight for his place he should go and now Novak who is a better all round player is back it’s the right decision. It saves a wage over the summer as well

 

After his transfer, I think this is how deep the great Rowe mystery goes. He was really unhappy about not starting. Then really unhappy about not even getting on us a sub. And then through training and game time, unhappy in beginning to realize that he can only play one way and doesn't have the experience or brain to adapt to what the team's different tactical needs are. All of this would make me sulk. Because I'd feel hard done by - but also a bit guilty inside that I didn't have it to rise that extra level to fit into what L2 teams need from me. Clearly didn't work out at Oldham. Nor here. I don't blame us for taking a punt on him. Like all new players, no matter what capability you do, sometimes it works, more than often it doesn't. Not just at City, but at all other clubs too. On paper, he looked a real possibility. On the grass, he looked National League - fits and starts of long range shots and quick feet, poor team discipline ethic and mobility when the game is twisting and changing. I wish him well.

 

You made out like it was fact he'd caused trouble at Oldham based on nothing more than assumption, and based on that, you are also assuming that means he was a negative influence here as well and that's why he's been moved on. How do you explain the account given by the club then, that it was Rowe that was desperate to move on and not us that wanted him out of the door? Don't get me wrong, I'm not bothered he's gone because it was clear he was never going to fit into the way T&S set us up to play, but to make out the fault for this shambles of a situation lies at Rowe's feet is unfair imo. Even if he is the bad apple you are making him out to be, the fault still lies with City for not doing due diligence before signing him.

 

Nobody is to blame he came he tried (a little) it didn’t go well he is gone. He has a three year contract which at his age is a good result and we are rid of a player which didn’t quite work out

 

After 3 months.

 

Will be November before sacking if we get the players they want and we are still dire to watch
