Is it just me but are a few of fans getting just a bit carried away about the recent ongoings at the club?

I certainly think promotion is exceptionally unlikely, if we finish 10th or above, it will have been a good second half to the season.
However the January window has been radical, a lot of players who have failed to ‘cut the mustard’ have gone and those who have replaced them are seen as potential significant improvements.
The management duo, and head of recruitment are down to the current CEO.
I think there is a lot more of a positive vibe to supporting City, than for a long time. City no longer comes over as a moribund organisation, slowly leeching away, but as a dynamic entity. Still a long way to go, but a damn sight more encouraging than up until the end on November.

But has the plan actually changed since Rupp purchased the club? The original plan of Rahic and Rupp was to develop young talent to improve the team and / or sell on for a profit to help us get to the championship and possibly beyond. This would involve a 'speculate to accumulate' approach from the outset. Unfortunately Rahic tuned out to be a bit of a psycho, but the plan was still there, and maybe still is. Just being implemented by a new management team in sparks and co. What has happened over the last 2 years is just a fall out from the Rahic days where the plan wasn't carried out within the financials originally planned by Rupp and went wrong. Not because the plan was a bad one, but because it was carried out terribly by Rahic. Now the books appear to have been settled it may be just a case that the original plan can start to happen again, but this time with a professional management and recruitment team in place, which is how it should have been done originally.

I think his comments, are more like him confirming that we're in this for the long run, which means he might have moved on (as most of us do during our career plan) and not see the full fruition of these younger players coming through.

He's an ambitious guy who will be on the bottom end of the scale in CEO salary terms. He should see this job as a stepping stone to a better paid role, give himself 2 or 3 years of development at Bradford and look to apply eleswhere.

I can't tell if you're being serious or on a @Fordy117@Fordy117 wind up.

We've just had one of the best transfer windows (on paper) we can remember, we're in great form, we've spent money on transfers and things are looking up. What exactly are you wanting a new owner to do differently at the moment?

That would be progress. But even if it happens, it would be 10 years under Rupp to get us back to exactly where we were when he bought the club.

The last few weeks have been very positive, but its going to take much, much more before we can start with the backslapping.

The club were recovering from debt stranglehold and the directors must take great credit for turning it round to give us 5 great years.

Well actually it's pretty easy to find clubs who have at least SOME plans for the long term future.

    https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/football/peterborough-united/new-peterborough-united-stadium-could-be-test-bed-advanced-technology-2953619%3Famp&ved=2ahUKEwjukfmmwOfuAhVIZxUIHWoDBHQQFjAJegQIFhAC&usg=AOvVaw08sOdVPomXnc-IHpU7DXic&ampcf=1

These plans aren't just about the new stadium in 2023, as you can see.

Look at FGR. long, long term plans around sustainability and an eco ground.

You won't typically find a club talking about a decade's worth of plans, granted, but it's clear to see they are there at certain clubs.

It's not even about money and huge, huge ambitions, to be frank. It's about having a long term goal that everyone buys into and part of that should include a clear identity - if not in terms of on pitch tactics, at least in terms of how the club can be expected to be run.

Honestly, if that's pie in the sky that's shameful - but I suppose it makes sense in a sport like this, badly run in general and very much seat-of-the-pants at most non-Premier League clubs.

I just would like more. Realistic plans, but real commitments. If Rupp can't deliver them, give someone else a go at running this club right.

I'm not interested in stalling long term plans based on Stefan's investment vanity.

Had Sparks just given Trueman and Sellars a contract till the end of the season it wouldn’t have made any difference. We would now be coming to the time when they and the players would want to know what’s happening next season. So with their record of gaining 45 points since their appointment he would be certain to offer them a deal for next season. Any other decision would be nonsense with their record, would an experienced manager have done any better? Of course there are doubts wether they can sustain success next season but that would apply to any other manager. Bowyer, McCall ,Hopkin all sacked, so we have to give these lads a shot at it. We’d look stupid sacking them now with their record. Have a little patience.

The truth is there are few stand out managers in and around Lg 2. Ditto players. That's why it's Lg 2. Perm any one from whoever you like - Cooper (God no!), Alexander, Hirst and on and on. They're all perfectly functional and perfectly mediocre. Play the same tactics wherever they go - which given the sackings the three I've named have on their CV, clearly haven't worked. Be careful what you wish for. T&S still have a lot to learn - but they have the summer to get their heads together and address the caution and conservatism of the past couple of months with new more expansive plans and ideas. I so wish they'd had the time and chance to do this earlier, and use more ambition to get us into the play offs, but reality is what it is.

That's where I have an issue with T&S. If players don't do their jobs defensively it doesn't matter what system we play. If we don't make the play-offs it WILL be a missed opportunity. I don't agree with people who say this is a shit league because nearly all the sides try to play football the right way. Having said that, there are no standout teams, not even Bolton.
Andy Kiwomya gets a lot of stick on here but I've known him since his playing days and he made a good point on Radio Leeds tonight. He said the lack of tempo or drop in tempo has come about since our safety was assured, it's almost like we've taken our foot off the pedal.
When we play the pressing game together as a team that's basically the whole team defending from the front so we don't invite the opposition to put us under pressure. Now we only press for short spells and not everybody does it.
With no standout teams the play-offs were there for the taking. We are missing a leader, just imagine what a difference Gary Jones would make to this team, ROD as captain is a joke, he shouldn't even be in goal.

Bang on. He talks too much. I think he brings some good qualities but has got to remember this isn't the Ryan Sparks show. Even yesterday he's talking about the club not accepting mediocrity then having to explain the context of it after the sacking of Trueman and Sellars. And the wording of the statement put out 'Trueman and Sellars have been relieved of their duties-with immediate effect. They could have worded it better for two lads who came and did a decent enough job.

Anyone that is interviewed by the media is open to being misinterpreted because that's what the media do. The fact he put the record straight immediately is commendable.

Morning. You say you want a Director of football preferably not chosen by Sparks. So who chooses him then?

Sparks is 29? I didn’t know that. You’d have thought he would have mentioned it.
Age is a number though, Karen Brady was MD at Birmingham City at 23, Denise Coates was early 30s when she started Bet365, you’ve countless people who have made a success of their own businesses. On the other hand I work with people who have been in the industry for 40+ years and I wouldn’t trust them to run a bath.
