Don’t think he was talking about T&S he was earning some of the players. Interesting and true point from Sellars Today at the press conference. He said people notice we have the attacking players to play 442 but do we have the defenders who can play it

 

Excluding the latter two managers in your list, Collins was clearly a ridiculous appointment, Hopkin less so given the situation and club's position. But calling out both Bowyer and Grayson is 20/20 hindsight and wisdom after the event. In that both had been successful in this and a higher division, there was nothing in their past to suggest that they wouldn't do well at Valley Parade.

 

Tho I he understands the value of entertainment and was already at the club when Bowyer was in charge and even when the going was good he’ll have seen fan’s reaction, he isn’t daft. That said we are a 4th division side nobody can expect us to go thrashing everyone 5-0 playing like Man City, but we definitely need more tempo and attacking structure to our game. When Kiwomya is pointing it out to you that’s not a good sign.

 

That's where I have an issue with T&S. If players don't do their jobs defensively it doesn't matter what system we play. If we don't make the play-offs it WILL be a missed opportunity. I don't agree with people who say this is a shit league because nearly all the sides try to play football the right way. Having said that, there are no standout teams, not even Bolton.
Andy Kiwomya gets a lot of stick on here but I've known him since his playing days and he made a good point on Radio Leeds tonight. He said the lack of tempo or drop in tempo has come about since our safety was assured, it's almost like we've taken our foot off the pedal.
When we play the pressing game together as a team that's basically the whole team defending from the front so we don't invite the opposition to put us under pressure. Now we only press for short spells and not everybody does it.
With no standout teams the play-offs were there for the taking. We are missing a leader, just imagine what a difference Gary Jones would make to this team, ROD as captain is a joke, he shouldn't even be in goal.

 

Now he's a bit more confident in the role Andy K is actually pretty knowledgable, and has provided some really good insights alongside some excellent word salad, which I just find endearing more than anything these days. His point about the warm up was bang on too

 

Let’s face it in some people’s eyes we have to appoint a manager who plays attacking football yet have a tight defence and if we lose a couple they are gone. There were some fans who would have been glad to see the back if Parky even after the glory season. At some stage we are going to have to give managers time to build. Parky got that time and he did deliver

 

If Trueman and Sellars don't produce the goods I expect Sparks to lay down the law in no uncertain terms. If we don't get promotion by the end of next season I expect Sparks to make changes.

 

Sparks moving up the corporate ladder demands he brings success to City. And the lad is ambitious for himself first and foremost. Which you need to succeed in that cutthroat world. The message he put out was clear. Nothing is safe in this clubs pursuit of promotion. And that includes management, playing and non playing staff.

 

I am inclined to agree with Fordy on this - but I still have high hopes that with a good summer of recruitment and the right players released then T&S can deliver.
But for now I have not totally given up on this season, win tonight and who knows

 

Yes we are still in it, we shouldn't be but with no standout teams we keep getting another opportunity. We need to get back to our high press game so we don't invite pressure, then we have to take our chances.

York make the cut regardless of division as it's a great away day on the beer. I've always also enjoyed Morecambe, Newcastle, Sunderland, Hartlepool, Notts County and Forest, Brentford, Chester, etc, etc.
