It's an interesting point. Who's decision would it be, Sparks or Rupp? It should be the CEOs call, but I believe Sparks ego and lack of self awareness is what precludes him from bringing someone in. It's sign of strength as a leader, bringing in people with the skills needed to compensate for your own shortcomings, not weakness.

Don’t they say the hardest part of fixing a problem is actually acknowledging that a problem exists in the first place?
I don’t think either Rupp or Sparks think we have a problem.
Rupp is more than happy to tootle along with his “sustainable” mantra which Sparks gives him.
Sparks just trots out the “competitive budget” (which we know could be massively improved) guff alongside his other meaningless sound bites.
The increased commercial side of the business is obviously an improvement but like others have said,we aren’t an advertising agency,we are a football club who’s success is based on one thing and one thing alone- position in the EFL ladder.
When Sparks took over 3 years ago we were 20th in Lge 2
Today we are 18th in Lge 2.
But at least the boardroom has Seabrook crisps in their nibbles bowls and we’ve got a car that brings the ball on to the pitch.
As much as it’s part of business,99% of fans don’t care about that.
All fans care about is the playing side and our constant scattergun approach to managers and bloated playing squads year after year would suggest that something’s not working.
Unfortunately Sparks’ ego means he is going nowhere through choice and Rupp isn’t sacking him anytime soon so we may have to just get used to being a bit shit.

But at least we aren’t Bury.

Paul Jewell has done the job before at Swindon, lives around the corner and has offered his services to the club in the past.

The lack of a plan leads to 3 year deals being given to poor players and 'shortcuts' like Derbyshire & McDonald.
The club needs to set the plan and the Manager is recruited to suit the plan. We're just rolling the dice every 18 months.

I think you'll find the lead has to come from the fans, again.

Rupp doesn't care, Sparks is happy in his 'personal best' position as CEO, if people like us don't push for change and make Rupp panic, like we did with Rahic, he'll do absolutely nothing.

Rupp must appoint better than Sparks. That is the long and short of it.

We know that everybody wants to share in success stories; few want to take responsibility for failure. That's human nature in many aspects of life.

Ryan is the CEO, the head honcho, the one who takes ultimate responsibilty for the club's success or otherwise and he carries the can. Whether that's fair or not is somewhat academic. In the absence of his own boss, he is the focal point for the fans' issues, both positive and negative. It just goes with the patch.

You really are shameless. How are you criticising another clubs owner who has achieved multiple promotions, silverware and tens of millions of pounds in player sales when Bradford City is being run like a joke outfit? MacAnthony is far from perfect but Sparks could only dream of achieving what he has.

BBC RL - just confirmed GA hasn’t even spoken to Rupp that is truly terrible. What does a 5 min introduction cost?

Optimist in me thinks Rupp has bigger fish to fry like flogging us.

Unfortunately we were told by Julian & Mark they could not finance a Championship club and believed at the time if given the chance Rack & Ruin could, I'm not sure the likes of Posh can when push comes to shove, as you know Championship football is an expensive hobby ask Dejphon Chansiri and that lad has some clout.
I dream as most fans do at our level but realistically maybe a good EFL Cup run or FA Cup run with the possibility of a promotion to League One are at the moment the best we can hope for, I very much doubt I'll see Championship football at Valley Parade again in my life time, a good topic to discuss over a beer, sadly it wont be this coming Saturday enjoy the day Ian.

He's an excellent example of the Peter Principle. The solution is to move him back down, or sideways, to where he is competent. Maybe in time he will develop the skills and knowledge to move back up the hierarchy, maybe not. But at least in the meantime he'd be back at a position in which he can succeed.

I've been one of those arguing all along for a structural reorganisation of the club, so that we have (to keep this post simple) footballing and non-footballing operations. S. has been good on the latter, not so good on the former. Get him back to where he has been good.

Of course, this means there has to be funding for the positions such a reorganisation requires. I would hope that the owner (really, any owner, in any business, anywhere) would recognise the importance of a proper structure to the success of that business, and see to that.

Thanks for a proper answer. Says it all.

And for what it's worth. I'm not even necessarily advocating for wholesale change. I just want us to act like a proper, thought through football club.

    As a really easy example;

Recruitment - we should place strict structures in the recruitment sphere. Fr example, 85% of signings to be within the age range 23-30, with 10% under 23 and 5% above 30. (Or figures there or thereabouts).

On contracts - no contract should be offered to players over 33 greater in length than a single season.

A couple of really quick examples there. There will be myriad others through football operations.

I haven't asked for a saviour, I've asked for us to be run like a forward thinking professional outfit. Not difficult.

Out of interest how would you like someone to answer that? Or are you just trying to trip people up with the weakest argument possible as you’ve little left to defend this crap with? Do you expect posters to have a list of business men and women eager to get into football? Fans have no say on who buys their club, of course there’s a chance they could be worse but it’s the risk you take. I’ll tell you something you’re blatantly unaware of at the moment, posters like you are shit scared of risk but what you don’t understand is standing still and not investing in private businesses is a massive risk as your competitors race past you and you shrink. That’s capitalism for you. So yes there’s a chance it could be worse but also a chance it could be better. Here’s a nice little stat for you, I’m sure it’ll go in one ear and out the other but I’ll waste my time anyway. Only Bury who went pop and Scunthorpe have dropped more league positions since Rupp took over than we have, let that sink in for the other clubs you mention that are worse run, actually in terms of football on the pitch they aren’t.

You also keep quiet until we beat a bunch of kids, your opinion would have help a bit more weight had you been spamming the Notts County thread after the game instead. Still I hope you can jump to Rupp and Sparks’ defence after we trounce Accy as we are in desperate need of the points.

Why get all sarky about it, just folk having a debate on forum. Cos like, that's what forums are for? Just because as fans we don't have millions down the back of the sofa doesn't mean we should refrain from discussion.

The thing is a couple of serious issues eat into your assertion, ‘We have plenty of decent players enough to progress’.

Sadly we have a number of key players (or those paid significant amounts of the budget), who are injured. Think Oliver, Walker, Pattison, Stubbs and now the returning Young.

We also have a number of neo-geriatric players in the late autumn/early winter of their careers. Think Derbyshire, McDonald, Taylor, Doyle, Smallwood, Cook and Ridehalgh.

Add onto that several uninspiring loans and players like Odusina, Hendrie, Cousin-Dawson, Richardson and Youmbi, on the books but out on loan.

Sorry but l cannot agree that we have ‘plenty of decent players enough to progress’. Too much mediocrity, injury, beyond their sell by date, and loan nonsense.

Sorry mate, you are totally confusing "bitter hatred" with "fed up of continuous failure". As I said earlier the majority of supporters are feeling the same

After all, when was the last time we were so unbelievably disconnected to the club, that a supporters group was set up just to try and force answers from it's CEO & owner?? I honestly do not comprehend how a minority of fans (yes, you are in the minority) can continue sticking up for these idiots who don't even have the common decency or courtesy to offer an open forum of any kind!

Well if Matt Brookes account is accurate, he's done really well to get across those questions/messages on the spur of the moment. And he's put the local media to shame as well.

I don't see the point in booing the players.
I don't see the point in sacking Alexander.
I don't see the point in attending games, though, either.

Ryan Sparks has killed Bradford City.

We've been telling him for the longest time that his methods wouldn't work, and here we are.

His methods haven't worked in the slightest.

    He's clueless.
    He's dangerous.
He's going to get us relegated.

If true, someone's poisoned Stefan with a false narrative. David Baldwin saved Huddersfield by avoiding Administration, finding a buyer, avoiding a points deduction and getting Warnock back to pull off a miracle escape. It ranks as one of his best achievements in football. He then left and now works as a consultant for another championship club.

Awarded Premier League CEO of the year! If Stefan doesn't rate David Baldwin, Deluded Derek is the voice of reason.
