Sing a new tune Kev, you normally aren’t a bad poster other than on this subject. You’re backing the wrong horse here I’m afraid, I didn’t have a rant at you because other than this message to me I’ve genuinely skipped over each of your posts in this thread as they start with the same question. I’ve made my point on why it’s a nonsense question, I won’t be saying anymore on it:thumbup:

We do have the solution. The solution is what I wrote above. In the absence of a new owner, Sparks needs to bring in a DoF. Preferably one with experience, a track record, and a vision for growing the football side of what we do. That’s the solution. The question is who, and there’s no way we’d have the information to know who the candidate should be. But that’s the solution. A move to a more modern model, that moves away from a fixation on ‘sustainability’ to one that focuses on growth and management of risk with a positive mindset.

It would appear Joey Barton was interviewed for the manager role here, but failed to convince Sparks.

Am I being cynical in thinking Sparks didn't have the bottle to hand him the role as he would think he couldn't handle Barton, or am I just been unfair on Alexander, and that he happened to conduct the more convincing interview

Spot on. Businesses that lack a growth mindset set, stand still and then regress. That’s what’s happening to us. We’re a broken organisation and the change that’s needed is at the very top.

One thing l am sure of is that a new owner would replace Sparks of his position of CEO.
Any bussines that operates on sustainability is standing still which means in reality is going backwards and City are an example of this

What exactly is the market value of a league 2 football club with no assets?
How on earth can Rupp think it be worth almost double what he paid for it?
The only asset the club has is the fanbase so to answer your question how to get Rupp to sell for less? Maybe the fanbase hold the key.
Stop renewing season tickets, stop attending.
Sponsorship would drop due to falling attendances.
We could easily be relegated to non league.

How much is the club worth then?

It is losing value week by week and if we were demoted would be worth Diddly Squat
The pressure on Rupp to sell and recoup at least something will be increasing

If sustainability is the Rupp model and he shows no sign of deviating from it then the fans must take action to displace him just like Blackpool fans did with their owner.
By continuing to renew season tickets we are supporting that sustainability.

I don’t disagree, that is something to think about for fans when it comes to renewal. It’s sad that it is even a thought in the imagination. Let’s see how things pan out over the coming months.

One things for sure if we are still bottom half, we don’t have the playoffs and Mark Hughes’ name to sell them this time so there will be a natural drop off.

Once that natural drop off occurs then it makes cheap tickets unsustainable.

In answer to your question I have no idea other than what someone wishes to pay for it.

However as a guide I checked out Morecambe this week as you know. It took 5 mins of checking !

They are still quoted as negotiating a sale to a 20 year old , as far as one can tell . Value, get this, £20 MILLION.!
I then discovered they DO NOT own the ground , it’s owned by a third party AND they train at a school , and don’t own that either. BigRod confirmed it with a similar post

So if it’s true that Rupps valuation is £8/9million , then that is some bargain if Morecambe is the L2 benchmark you asked for . I can’t speak for EFL finance gaurantee requirements .

The fan base hold the key for sure, they walk away with the key and the club fold and he will write off his asset as a tax loss probably . We are left with precisely what thereafter ? There is a massive list available as a guide Bury, Oldham etc etc Remember we have been here twice before and the knight in shining armour to relieve us of the financial toilet pot we found ourselves in?

    I think I’ve captured your questions? .

Sustainability sounds fantastic in theory, and it has taken me awhile to work it out; I don’t own a business, so therefore I am limited to certain extent. If your main source of income is from ST and fans plus sponsors then you can’t run a business like that. You just have to acquire assets ie good footballers and staff that actually know what they are doing.

The reason I am worried about our situation is we don’t appear to have any really good footballers to drag us out of this mess, plus the CEO appears to not know we are in a mess and the new manager has only just arrived. Back to sustainability, in January we get a chance based on the managers assessment to put some meat on the bare bones of our club. Apparently fans think Rupp won’t invest in his investment. My view is this do you let your original investment wither on the vine or do try and rescue it? If he wouldn’t sell to ppl who would not meet his asking price my guess is he wants to carry on until he gets the right price. Letting us drop into oblivion taking his investment with it is not part of the plan.

I fully support a consultancy who can assess what we need, and or a DOF.

Ok I’ll go with your solution in the knowledge that a DoF will probably cost the club the salary of a good quality squad member. On the basis where do we obtain this person from and what should their footballing qualifications be as opposed to quoted ones with “ Administration” roles. I can’t find one in our Division as yet .
I have no problem whatsoever with the principle. That is something people are missing , where I have an issue is one that is available and one that has sufficient football, coaching, managerial knowledge to successfully fulfill the post. One that knows and can judge a good honest footballer that can come in to do a job. A Neil Warnock figure, a Barry Fry figure. I cannot think of any others sadly, neither can anyone else come to think of it. Hope that explains?

The tragedy is neither rupp nor sparks nor even the apologists think City is a broken organisation.
Sadly, they are on a nice little earner with a large dressing of cheap soundbites.
May take some prodding to embrace the change!

Paul Jewell has done the job before at Swindon, lives around the corner and has offered his services to the club in the past.

I back pragmatic factual horses Wilsden until someone comes up with a viable alternative. Don’t fall down the rabbit hole of thinking I don’t agree with wanting an alternative owner, I certainly do. Who that owner is or maybe, I have zero idea, until then , repeated calling for a change of ownership won’t force him to sell . Life, especially where money is concerned isn’t as simple as some are making it to be you know and I know .

    Debate away please.
