Rumarn Burrell - Signed on Loan

We have many players out of contract in the summer. And I’m not convinced the salary cap will still be around next season.

 

Agree he must have impressed someone at Boro. He came on as late sub for Boro against Brentford in the FA Cup and as played 11 times for the under 23s scoring 4 goals. Not a lot of games under his belt and not a lot of goals scored.
We can only see what happens hopefully it works out for all

 

As @Bradford End says, direct replacement for Samuels. Input from Trueman is what takes my eye: desperate to sort attack, they’ve been aware of this lad since they became involved in youth football, more to come! This one seems researched. Keep going all senior City management team, many positive vibes coming out of this window.

That's why we should have been identifying key players for long term contracts before the cap came in so we'd benefit from the average wage rate.

 

Three of the biggest earners are out of contract in the summer, Donaldson, AOC, Wood. There’s half a million a year in them three. Novak will be on half decent money too, none of them are getting better deals than they have now. In next seasons squad I think there is only POC on a pre salary cap contract. The remaining players are young and probably cheap and new signings will be on salary cap era contracts.

 

i think Wood will be kept on an improved contract Not Sure about A O’Connor only Donaldson will definitely not be here next season

 

Paudie & Canavan will hopefully establish themselves, AOC can do one.

Wood will get himself another club easy. He would be an utter stupid fool to stay at Bradford City at the moment.

 

I get that, my point was more to do with the fact that they were youth coaches who I wouldn’t have thought had any input whatsoever on who used to come in to the club. Don’t get me wrong, i know they would have had the say over young talent coming through the youth development route but not bringing players in from a championship club.

I’m not actually having a go, I think their knowledge of youth football can benefit it I just doubt that they have been ‘watching’ players from other clubs... as you say, that’sa scouts job although I don’t think we have these in place either.

 

Maybe so but at the end of the season he needs to go.

 

He will get game time this season as he can fill in at CB, RB or even midfield.

However once his deal is up, it's up for me.

Contrary to the calls for the club to lower themselves to signing underperforming players with chequered backgrounds, we need to move forward and establish a team of professional players.

 

Anyway, back on track, Samuels wasn't working out so it's good to get someone else in and give them a shot. If they come with a good reputation, that'll do.

We've largely played Novak up front on his own, so it will be interesting to see if Burrell is anything more than just an option off the bench.

 

I think it’s more a case of monitoring players generally doing their day job. Plus I believe he started at Scunthorpe so may well be known by Turnbull

 

Is Wood really on that much? Came as an ubproven youngster. Agree he’s been one of the only few decent performers we’ve had here over the last few years

 

Well...... Just pause a second and remember who was in charge when he got his contact.....

 

I expect A O'C might be one of the higher earners in the squad. He may sign but on reduced terms. I expect Canav, Paudie and Staunton are our 3 with another youngster

 

I was brought up with the mantra that if you don't have anything good to say then don't say it

 

Perhaps a few weeks back but he might actually be enjoying the new lease of life at the club (unlike certain grumpy old gits! )
