Was slightly underwhelmed til I read this:

As @Bradford End says, direct replacement for Samuels. Input from Trueman is what takes my eye: desperate to sort attack, they’ve been aware of this lad since they became involved in youth football, more to come! This one seems researched. Keep going all senior City management team, many positive vibes coming out of this window.

Very true.

That's why we should have been identifying key players for long term contracts before the cap came in so we'd benefit from the average wage rate.

 

Difference is the management duo have seen a lot of him by the sound of it. And if we are bringing in another striker hopefully with a bit of experience it can only strengthen us

 

He is a back up striker, one expected to be in the first team is well down the line. No one can say we were not ready for this window (although know one or two who still might ), as to whether we have signed well only time will tell but I for one am impressed the way the club has pulled together since McC left

 

Paudie & Canavan will hopefully establish themselves, AOC can do one.

 

Anyway, back on track, Samuels wasn't working out so it's good to get someone else in and give them a shot. If they come with a good reputation, that'll do.

We've largely played Novak up front on his own, so it will be interesting to see if Burrell is anything more than just an option off the bench.

 

A quick check says he's contracted til 2022 and hasn't been loaned out before, which suggests they still see him as a prospect. Also, he was at Scunthorpe as a youth - another Turnbull connection?

 

Three of the biggest earners are out of contract in the summer, Donaldson, AOC, Wood. There’s half a million a year in them three. Novak will be on half decent money too, none of them are getting better deals than they have now. In next seasons squad I think there is only POC on a pre salary cap contract. The remaining players are young and probably cheap and new signings will be on salary cap era contracts.

 

He will get game time this season as he can fill in at CB, RB or even midfield.

However once his deal is up, it's up for me.

Contrary to the calls for the club to lower themselves to signing underperforming players with chequered backgrounds, we need to move forward and establish a team of professional players.

 

Is he a proper front man or one of these modern "can play anywhere across the front three" types?

Never heard of him but if he wants to be here and will put in his all then good luck to him. Hope he does well.

 

Is his grandad called Paul? Heard he was a great servant to his employer.

 

So why the 'highly rated' tag? Why line the lad up for a fall. By the laws of averages most of these sort of signings won't work but thats the chance you take with any unknown signing. I hope he does go on to be a success, whether it be here or elsewhere.
