Rivals next season

Why do city fans think its our right as the biggest club in league 2 to go straight back up? We had the 4th biggest budget this season and came bottom. Its hard to be positive right now but look at Bury, MK Dons (they did keep the majority of there league 1 squad) going straight back up. It took us 5 long years to get out of league 2 the last time we was there, and they were long years. I remember the 0-0 against Dagenham at valley parade, I've seen better sunday league games. Lets first hope for a team that is proud to play for city and gives everything for the badge, then surely success will follow.

There's plenty of comments on here about city going straight back up, not sure if these people were watching city the last time we were in league 2. I do believe we have the right man in Bowyer, but having to overhaul a complete squad is going to be tough, I agree with some of the comments on here about getting hungry players from non league, but understand these players cost money, over to you Mr chairman

 

I'm not sure anyone thinks we have a god given right to promotion at the first time of asking, but like Bowyer said, 'This feeling that I have doesn't sit right and I'm not having it again'.

 

Don't think it sits right with any manager when they get relegated. Just think some fans should keep it real as its gonna be a long hard slog in league 2

 

Have a bit of self belief mate, it's league 2 not La Liga.

 

Got a bit excited on Friday when Gary said his team selection might give a clue to his thinking for next season. When the team was actually announced, I thought we are taking up our rivalry with Morecambe.

 

Is that a repeat of your thoughts 12 years ago?

 

Let's be realistic, we aren't playing Crawley's stadium capacity. We're not playing their history. We're not playing their fan base. And we're certainly not playing our perception of how big they are.

We are playing the team they field, with the team we field.

If we start the season relying on Anthony O'Connor, Connor Wood, Omari Patrick and the shite we have contracted currently, I suspect most League Two clubs will have a better centre back, better left back, and better striker than we will be fielding.

On that basis, IF we can't shift some of the dross, how in the blue hell are we going to challenge for anything?

I guarantee AFC Fylde have better strikers than Patrick, and better defenders than we've fielded this season.

The perception we should be challenging is laughable until we have some good players in the building.

 

Wonder if Morecambe bantam still works at that caravan site .

So true, our team of this season would definitely have got us out of league 2.

 

It's a repeat of my thoughts prior to every single season, otherwise, what's the point?. Having a bit of optimism and belief about what could be is what gets the juices flowing - the fact that I am more often left disappointed than fulfilled once the season is underway is a different matter, but the day that pre-season excitement and anticipation goes will be the day I stop supporting City.

Dunno but in truth each year I pray we have a youngster or two that can be thrown a line to show what they can do. Every year we seem to be told that this years youngsters are the best we have had but none of them seem to get anywhere. Bearing in mind, we have just had the worst season ever I hoped that a wand could be waived and someone could actually do something. My real answer to Park,s question is, I haven't a clue as I just don't know if any of them are up to it. However, Gary's comments on Friday did give me a little hope so I felt let down when the team was announced.
