Richard O'Donnell

There's a bloke at my work reckons he's Eastwood best friend. Round about the time Barnsley were trying to sign him he said he was 'desperate' to move back north. Must have changed his mind because he signed a 3 year contract a bit later on.

Not often I have any ITK information so thanks for giving me the excuse to share.

 

Anyone else not entirely convinced he'll manage to keep a clean sheet today...?

There are at least 14 worse keepers in this division look at the facts and figures our goals conceded is on par with the teams in 3rd 4th and 5th but okay let's make up some silly nonsense about how he's the worst keeper in history

 

Goals conceded is only part of the arguement, the type of goals and if they could have prevented is the arguement here.

If a keeper had only conceded 10 goals in 16 games yet 8 were near post shots a goalie should be saving and the other was a clanger from a cross then would that keeper still be classed as a good keeper?

 

Is that a real scenario though

 

The fans are the other players seem to have lost confidence in O’Donnell. We need a replacement in the summer.

 

imagine how up we would be if we didn’t concede these daft stupid goals .......... defenders don’t know when to go for crosses or if they are to leave them.
Imagine having to play in front of that ????
Seriously our defenders should go for everything now because they simply cannot count on him to do the BASICS right.

 

I reckon that puts more emphasis on the defence. If he had saved some of the silly goals he has let in we would be much higher in the league.

 

Don't knock Ben Williams. He only conceded two v Chelsea !

 

Not defending ROD but perhaps if our defenders also made tackles instead of allowing opposition players to waltz past them, or cleared the ball when they have the chance to, then that might also lead to fewer goals conceded.

 

So dead balls into the box are all due to our defenders not making tackles ????

 

He can make fantastic saves and then let a soft one in, That sort of ability will send you down long term as his record shows he is a non league keeper, Adams it seems learns nothing

 

I sound like a broken record as I like ROD the personality, but we need better as a keeper. Thought he had a great game at Port Vale but unfortunately I struggle to name another game I would give the same rating. Fair points above, you can also question the defence in front of him, however isn’t part of been a good keeper been a major cog in the wheel of organising that in front of you or helping find solutions to improve? Unfortunately we have seen very little improvement in that respect for +3 years.

No. But pointing out that he isn't the only one making mistakes back there. Earlier in the season ROD was slated for letting a mis hit shot in at his near post when Canavan should never have let the opponent get his shot/cross in from 6 yards out.

But actually now you come to mention it, a lot of the dead balls into the box are due to our defenders and Watt giving away stupid fouls in dangerous positions
