I like ROD the person. He comes across a very likeable character. Problem is, and I’ve said this for a long time, he just doesn’t fill me with confidence that he owns his area. It’s not just about ability to manage crosses, it’s been the owner of everything in front of you. Unfortunately I just don’t see him owning his position and every defence we have had (and TBF to ROD, some of them have been appalling) don’t seem to trust him.

On the flip side, when Hornby played last season we looked much more assured.

Tonight Hornby should be playing. If nothing else what have we really got to lose?

Unfortunately for both I don’t expect either GK to be here next season. I don’t think we’ve seen enough first team from Hornby but clearly he’s not done enough to impress Adam’s so far either.

Wow. That is some seriously terrible positioning by ROD.

 

Brad Jones only played in about 4-5 games for us then went to the Dutch league and was in the champions squad

 

There was a good reason why that was to be fair.

 

Billy Punton who played a handful of games in the mid 70's

 

Ross Turnbull and Simon Eastwood two other garbage loanees we had.

Symptomatic of why we are going nowhere. Not convincing. Been here long enough and hasn’t done enough to show he is capable of playing higher. Get rid.

 

Rouven Sattelmaier even worse. That Raeder also hopeless.

ROD does not provide confidence to whatever defence plays in front of him. He does not command his box. Never comes out for crosses. Always rooted to his goal. Said this before but his positioning is awful. Due to this, Most goals that we concede leave him with no chance as he’s never anywhere near the ball. He is an Okay Shot stopper. Thats as far as it goes.

Now don’t get me wrong, Hornby isn’t a massive improvement. They are both on a very similar level. The main difference though is Hornby comes out for crosses from time to time an commands his box. As a result, we tend to concede less scrappy goals an the defence feels more assured when Hornby is in goal an therefore they play with more confidence which inevitably breeds better performances.

At this stage of the season, its a pretty obvious choice as to where Adams should go from here.
