    I think that's misleading.

Take the Doyle chance. Bolton work the ball down the left, and their lad dinks it up from the byline back to Doyle near the 6 yard line. Never in a million years do you expect the keeper to come for that

And Carlisle, they had a wicked wind behind them and the trajectory of the cross is different.

Based on more than one game each, Hornby is much more willing to come off his line and command his box than RoD. Todays goal is on RoD more than anyone. But tbh, we need better than either of them.

my observations of the two (ive not seen the highlights of the colchester game so can’t comment). they are both decent options for this league. ROD stands out for his shot stopping, Hornby is better with distribution. the stand out factor is who makes the defence play better; for me, thats Hornby. The defence looks shaky as feck recently with ROD playing. That being said, neither are overly amazing. people are banging on about positioning as so forth; what do you really expect from a forth division goalkeeper? they wont be the finished package otherwise they’d be playing in a higher division. If its a case of who to keep out of the two, Hornby as hes young enough to improve his mistakes. in an ideal world, we need a better goalkeeper for the long term future

I think you've been watching a different game. So Hornby can inspire the defence in front of him? Sorry. But I want a keeper who can command their box better than 1/10

Having just brought him back,i dont see any chance of him being dropped before the end of the season,no matter how bad he is.Hornby must be gutted, and i would imagine his agent will already be putting feelers out to find him a new club for next season. He certainly wont stay here to be second fiddle to ROD.

I don't understand what the last two rows mean. Are those the number before they do an inaccurate one?

For the record, yesterday O'Donnell had 27 possessions and only passed short twice, both in the 8/9th minute and both were accurate but with no pressure. The other 25 were long kicks. Some Cook managed to get a head on or try and control so you could say they were accurate but we didn't create anything much from any of those. Would we have done better with short passes? We'll never know. But, every minute of the opening of the second half from 46 to 50 he kicked the ball long and the result was them getting the ball and attacking in our half creating chances. It was a worrying start to the half but fortunately we got on top and scored and took the wind out of their sails.

I suspect he'll leave, possibly dropping to the National League in order to secure regular first team football.

Hornby would be class at that level.

ROD did ok today but how many times have we seen him beaten from distance? Either his eyesight isn’t the best or his positioning is poor.

Compare him to the FGR keeper.

    He looks like Gordon Banks.

I prefer to compare him to Hornby. I wish he wouldn't stick to his line when the balls 3 yards away. He did gain a bit more confidence as the game went on so maybe he's learning.

I posted in the match day thread that I’ve given him a lot of (what I believe) criticism recently, however his save from the cross then double save from the 1:1 shortly afterwards was as key as the 3rd goal. He didn’t have loads to do before that but was alive to both situations and massive credit where it’s due that he kept those out. Could have been a very different score line had one of those gone in. That said if it had been the cross I’d have probably been going mad at him!!

His stats are better than Hornby's.

He's conceded 6 in his last 8 games.

Hornby conceded 6 in his last 3 games.

That's probably why he was dropped.

His double save today doesn’t count, as apparently he only makes good saves when we’re losing...

An earlier poster in the thread who pointed out he only makes good saves when we’re losing. Guess he’s not watched the last 3 years...

Sorry but goals conceded is no measure of any keeper, you know that as well as I do.

That's the point I've made before. He's a good shot stopper at close range, as is Hornby, and he was great today. But there were a few long range efforts which fortunately went wide which might have caused him a problem if they'd been on target. And why a bloke as big as him can't come for crosses on his six yard box is beyond me.
