We've always done well with keepers. Would be great if we could sign a young up and coming keeper with potential. Difficult in this day and age, cos they always get snapped up by the bigger clubs. But if we can offer some sort of stepping stone in regards to the fact that they may fight for the number one spot, then we might have a chance.
I've always thought it must be one of the most disheartening positions for a young footballer when starting out. Crazy how many signed up pro keepers sit on the bench for years, yet alone all the young talents who don't even get a chance at that.

 

We might already have one in Huffer. Very highly thought of at Leeds but a bad wrist injury scuppered his chances there. All depends on whether that continues to be a problem for him or not.

 

There was one he came and punched in second half which did really well on. It just doesn’t happen enough.

 

I've been critical of ROD but he had an excellent game yesterday, even quite a few of his long kicks found a city player.

 

Yep, two times in the second half he came for punches and cleared the ball away from danger which was good to see and a relief for the defenders too I reckon.

The saves will come and go, sometimes he'll make them, sometimes they'll bounce in unluckily but A much better performance yesterday from a "commanding the box" perspective. Long may it continue!

He is a scapegoat. The 10 in front of him were dire today and have been for a while yet there isn't a single thread criticising any of them.

That's not in defence of ROD either as I think he should go with the rest of them, it was just in the interest of balance.

Surely you above all people need a perfect keeper?

 

Doesn't matter who is between the sticks it's the shower Infront that's not performing.

 

Forget Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe etc.

The real best player in the world is usually whoever our second choice keeper is.

Agree we have looked dodgy since he came back but we have not had Cooke and now Canavan who were performing well and both were some sort of screen of ROD or the defence.

I will not be sad if ROD goes TBH. He couldn't catch covid. This myth he is a good shot stopper continues to make me laugh.

 

Think there is another year on his contract yet.

Hornby is out of contract who again is overrated because he doesn’t get picked, R’OD should be number 2. We need to look for a decent number one in the summer and if we want to play it out of the back then someone with some distribution. Might not be a bad idea to see if there’s a young up and coming keeper we can get on loan.

 

Signing a new number 1 is crucial for me. If we stick with ROD not only as first choice keeper but also as captain, I firmly believe it will hinder our chances of going up next season.
