Rhodes: Decision Time !

There are pros and cons to both options but on balance and taking everything into account, I believe Doyle will be more beneficial to us if he stays at Swindon, providing they pay his wages in full for the rest of the season. If we get a lump sum on top that will be a bonus but I doubt it will be anywhere near what Ford is wanting.

 

Swindon either meet our demands and keep him or he comes back, Wrose Bantam suggests the two parties are working on a deal.

 

We hold the cards on this because he is registered with us. So whatever happens it will be us that decide although I am sure the players thoughts will be taken into account.
In my opinion bringing an unhappy player in will do more harm than good

 

Absolutely they should meet our demands, whatever they may be.

That is an extreme good point, Mr Layne. If we don’t get him back it is a way of rationalising it. If at the end of the season Swindon pipped us for automatic promotion or beat us in the playoffs we might think otherwise.

 

Maybe if he does return he needs to get his head down, taking the players thoughts into consideration, were not a kindergarten, he has less than 5 months to prove a point, sorry mate players usually have the power maybe on this occasion the club have.

 

I'm sorry but this Doyle argument is so simplistic and ill thought out. You and certain others are reacting to how well he's done at Swindon. Not one of us could foresee it. Let's say he had banged in 10, still a good return for this stage of the season but I doubt you would be lamenting the loan in quite the same way. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Let's not.forget most wanted rid of him anyway and - although we continue to pay PART of his wage - it freed up.money to bring in others and create a stronger and more balanced squad. There are Fair Play rules to abide by remember.

 

If he does come back and do well for us and both us and Swindon go up ...

Getting fed up of hearing this hindsight crap. We loaned him out based on circumstances at that time. Those circumstances have changed and we are entitled to do what we want.
It doesn’t matter what we all thought in August.

imagine letting your house out on a short term lease because for whatever reason you move away from the area (circumstances at that time)....then 6 months later you need or want the house back....the tenant is disappointed but it’s tough titty.
In hindsight you’d never have let the house out but again it doesn’t matter, it’s still your house.

We owe Swindon nothing and we have no obligation to do what Doyle wants either.

Some folk are over simplifying it, he scored 20 so he will score 20 here, and if he doesn’t it’s someone else’s fault.

Genuinely believe he is gone and for a whole variety of reasons, we are a team on the up, not one individual.

 

@Dennis has stated recently that bringing Doyle back would not affect us FFP wise.

 

Isn’t his contract up in the Summer? Doubt very much either party would be interested in extending it.

Laughable but even worse he doesn’t have the ability to offer any alternative and hides behind it’s not my job to appoint one.
Simple. Don’t sack bowyer. The footballs full. But we had 3 manglers last season and that didn’t work either. Parky took time to build the club but that’s not something fordy is prepared to allow. Oh and he wanted Parky sacked too.

 

Simon Parker said weeks ago if we don't bring Doyle back it won't be for financial reasons. We can afford to bring him back for 6 months, it's just down to the club now.

 

He should be back before the summer apparently.

 

Just wanted to point out you have misunderstood my post.

It was a direct response to Fordy and those who shared the particular view he expressed in the post I replied to. The argument he made was Rhodes was short sited to allow Doyle to go out on loan in the first instance, therefore the arguments around hindsight and the other factors influencing the decision at the time to loan out Doyle were entirely relevant as a counter argument.

Your response appears to be completely out of context and focuses on reasons for bringing him back. I never made a case for not bringing him back and - for the record -fully support the calls for him to be brought back. I was simply sick and tired of the lazy arguments made for having loaned him out in the first place so took the opportunity to refresh a few memories.

Good news is we have him back now so hopefully end of debate.
