    Of course you can pay somebody off. Provided you pay the remainder of their contract they don’t have a choice. They’ll be no worse off and providing they can find a club, could in fact be better off. The club loses because the pay isn’t staggered over the remainder of the contract. Whether that impacts on the salary cap, I don’t know.

    Not sure how it works but definitely goes towards the cap. Now for players like BRE who we signed before the cap we are currently only having an applied average put towards our cap and not his full wages. If we pay him up do all the wages we paid him go towards the cap? Not sure

    My main concern with this short term manager scenario we now have is, who is the recruitment man taking his list of players to and what are they asking for?

    point is if Trueman says they want to play 4/4/2 diamond and don’t need any wingers but need a number 10 style player, and another striker, is that who we get?

    Do we then appoint a manager to play similar tactics and say this is your side like it or lump it?
    Surely we need to decide on an identity/style and we get players in accordingly?

    That’s my worry. January is huge for this club. We have the final say on recruitment lying with interim managers who have no long term security in the roles they’re in. So that presumably means our recruitment will be focused on short term value too? Loans and 6 month contracts? If not, and if we’re trusting longer term recruitment to managers with no (as yet) long term role, how do we ever start to move forward?

    I think this is where the club would benefit from an announcement on what Turnbull is currently doing for us and how it fits in going forward longer term.

    In this day and age, if I were a player who was no longer wanted by the fans, then unless they paid up my full Contract, with all potential bonuses and a ‘Golden Handshake’, then I wouldn’t be going anywhere, unless I had another contract in place. It would be in the club’s interest to get rid of the player, as they are ‘blocking’ a precious squad space.

    Appears to have a lot of constructive experience at this level. An ‘older head’ to go alongside the young management team and young CEO. Seems a balanced appointment. Now we need to find the right players, not just on performance, but also fitness/injury and of course attitude.
