The stadium can wait, otherwise, while you get some grief on here, can’t disagree with any of that.
We need to stop this knee jerk short termism and create and implement a long term plan.
Deal with the current issue (sort this season out) but know where we’re going beyond that, and how we get there.
That needs all of the above and none of it will cost the earth either.

I wouldn’t be distracted by any notions of the play-offs at this point. I think we need 4 signings in January:
    Another Centre-Back, a Defensive Mid, a winger, a striker.

To be absolutely honest, probably another season, if not two. Far, far, too early to be even thinking, of thinking about the Play Off’s. Let’s review the situation when we get to 50 points.

I think the stadiums waited longer enough and added to a huge demise, but I ain't daft enough to think it will be sorted tomorrow just hope its sooner rather than later, and yes all above does need sorting
Simler to my thoughts then, agreed

In a ideal world 4 quality signings consisting of 2 strikers instead of Guthrie and Donaldson & 2 wide players one with genuine pace instead of DMH and Ismail.

Liverpool didn't just sign a top keeper , centre and couple of strikers and then like magic it all came together...No, No, No.

    What happened was the following:

Hire King Kenny to stable the club on the pitch.
The owners listened to King Kenny - Not any AD's, or sponsors. The bloody manager.
    The owners sacked the DOF.
The owners the got their own Sporting director in.
The owners then let Kenny resign so Rodgers came in.
Rodgers had a footballing IDENTITY the owners wanted to play.
Then one of the best managers in world become available so sacked Rodgers.
Klopp comes in. The owners, CEO. listen to the manager.
The manger wants a new training ground. A new one is now built.
Klopp and Sporting director get a recruitment team
Klopp not in charge of recruitment but coaching.
Liverpool extend anfield not once but twice

Within 6 years Liverpool was brought for 360m now worth 2 billion.

Liverpool are not just signing a keeper, a defender etc they're signing players and making them BETTER! Robinson, Trent, Salah, Mane - All the players have improved. Why! Because the set up is correct. Liverpool know who they want to sign two transfer windows ahead.

Point is you have to plan. It's that simple. It's not just about signing 1 or 2 players.

Bradford City are out of date. Its a failing club. A shocking business that until it puts football first won't go anywhere. Hopefully Sparks will understand this.

We need to stop with short term thinking.

I’d say so. And ideally, if we can move Guthrie, BRE and DMH on, all the better. And in terms of what COULD be achieved, the play-offs are possible. But we shouldn’t be getting carried away - memories of the same discussions 2 years ago when we briefly revived in the winter of our relegation season still linger too clearly for me. And we still have some significant problems to put right structurally at the club and within the squad. If we can move 3-4 out and bring the same in, with quality, then we give ourselves a real platform for the summer.

And one of the most important bits of business we need to sort is a contract extension for Wood - isn’t his deal up this summer? We may even be forced into selling him in January if he won’t renew.

Yeah, all of that’s relatable to a League 2 club that’s on its arse in the middle of a global pandemic....

No, it's not mate. My point is Liverpool didn't just sign a few players.

In terms of us we could just stick to a few points:

    Identify manager you want.
    Get the manager
Know the playing style long term.
Get a DOF if that's what you think for long term.
Build a recruitment set up if required
Listen to the manager!! Manager is key!

The above needs to be done no matter what.

Kinda get that but surely this season is the one to push for it? Salary caps, no home advantage, first team player isolating? If you look at the top 5 would you have said they will be where they are now at the start of the season? Looking further down the league id have said, us, Bolton, tranmere, Harrogate (only because teams that come up tend to be on a roll) and Salford
I didn't know the quote so didn't know the dates you where talking about, I don't disagr
I didn't know the quote so didn't know the dates you where talking about, I don't disagree with you, infact I agree with you, but in the time scales I thought you meant klopp did just address the shortcomings that where aparant and signed the players I mentioned but yes before that alot of ground work was done, recently for city some ground work has been done and loads more as you say needs doing but right now the gaffers that are here and now can only work with with whats now, fingers crossed we go down the road you have mentioned because your not the only one one that thinks like that

I would have anticipated that Cheltenham and Forest Green Rovers would have been in the top 7, also Exeter, who actually are seventh.
Before the season started, I wouldn’t have put us in the top 5.
Given our squad, then I anticipated that we would be around 8th or 9th at the end of the season, either missing out on, or falling in the Play Off’s.
Our home ‘advantage’ paid off for us in the 2017 season when we were undefeated at home!
Salary caps are going to be around for some time. A number of our opponents, signed players before it was introduced, so if anything they have an advantage over us this season.
So although I can see your enthusiasm with the results, to be looking towards the ‘Play Off’s’ seems to me to be overly ambitious.
    Let’s get to safety first!

We need to pay off quite a few to bring a few in. We need a left back to challenge/step in for Wood should he get injured. Release Longridge. Dominant centre half and release BRE, maybe an older head for cover when Paudie gets banned. A left sided winger, Pritchard is too hit and miss. One if not two strikers. Release Guthrie and Donaldson.

In terms of finishing position, I’d like to think the form continues but can see us regretting not sacking Stuart sooner and missing out on the play offs by a few points.

Not sure why people are writing this season off. We’re 8 points of the playoffs with a large chunk of the season still to play. We’ve been woeful all season and yet after 3 wins we find ourselves a couple more wins away from the playoffs, this shows how even the league is.

A couple of decent additions to the squad, notably a striker, winger and RB (if we lose BH) and who knows. I’m not saying this will happen but I find it odd that people are already stating that survival is the best we can hope for this season.

All this 'paying off', 'moving on' and 'releasing' stuff is pie in the sky nonsense.
The likes of BRE, DMH, Longridge and Guthrie are on contracts until the end of the season. We can't just release them or pay them off unless they agree to it. Why would they agree to that when they know they've little chance of being snapped up by other clubs?
They are poor players who are unable to command a regular place in the team, or in some cases the squad, of a club languishing at the arse end of the khazi division. It's highly unlikely that any club is going to see them as the answer to their recruitment needs in January. There are better free agents available. We are almost certainly lumbered with them until their contracts run out in June.

Two wingers and a striker should be the first signings. Desperate for some pace and athleticism in wide areas to stop us being so pedestrian going forwards and allow us to counter attack. Clarke is playing out of position on the right albeit he's done fairly well there, but he's better centrally, in behind Novak. Pritchard seems to be anonymous for most of the game and Evans isn't impressing, which leaves us with no real depth or quality in that area. Send Samuels back, bin off Guthrie and we should be ok with Novak, Donaldson and a pacey forward with a bit of calibre.

Need another body in that defensive midfield role to compete with Sutton and Watt. Maybe even two.

Right back but only if Hosannah is injured or recalled.

Centre half, probably left sided so we have two of each.

I make that 5 players minimum that are needed. And it goes without saying they can't be of the calibre of Samuels or Guthrie.

If Trueman gets the job along with Sellars does anyone think Connor will be asking dad Scott for any more of the young lads from Wolves as he's academy manager down there.

I think a lot of posters on here have to accept, is that with the current players who are on permanent contracts, then they are not going anywhere, unless someone comes in with an offer. That is highly unlikely with the individuals that posters feel are ‘not a good a match’ for what we want.
We have a squad with 18 ‘Senior Players’ in it. The maximum number of ‘Senior Players’ we can have on our books with the current EFL regulations is 22.
The number is set to reduce over the next two seasons to 21 and then 20. So whoever we sign, has probably got to have a potential to be with us for up-to 30 months. Get it wrong and we are then stuck with them. As has been said time and time again, January can be a poor time to sign players and we are 18th in tier 4, with little hope of a promotion bonus and with the potential of a relegation on their CV.
Players who are currently at City are exceptionally unlikely to leave. If anything they will be doing the opposite of James Vaughan and sitting tight until the end of their contracts expire.
The reality is that there will be many more unemployed footballers, as the further reduction in squad size really starts to bite.
What we need is to accept, is that what we can achieve is likely to occur with the current squad. Fantasy ‘what we need’, is to realise that, ‘by and large, we have to work with our current squad.
